that is actually OC meaning there is an open circuit in the system some where, with out a signal generator at home to test the system, you are on a guessing mission, i would try a outside/ambient air temp sensor first, cheapest and easy to do it on the in front behind the grille on the pass side of the radiator , if this is not it it could be a wiring issue or it needs a new mirror which you have to calibrate the compass in after replacement
There are 3 backlighting bulbs that illuminate the display for your clock, odometer and temp.(outside). Take a towel and cover up the cluster and see if you can barely see the reading. If you can than the display is o.k.. Next you must slide the cluster out and replace the backlighting bulbs. I beleive ther are 2,one amber and one clear for each display. So there would be 6. There is a tool called a combi hook that allows you to grab the cluster and slide it out. Hopefully I have been helpful.
bad temp sensor. when you open the hood look where the hood latch is and the sheet metal bar in middle right behind grill there is a clip with a sensor on a wire, sensor is black about 1.5 inches disconnect get new one at store, replace
that is not your thermostat, that has to be the temp sensor on your cylinder head, should be next to the intake manifold on the head. it has 1 cable. that sensor´s only job is to show you the temp of the engine on the temp dial in your instrument display the thermostat is connected to a water hose that goes to your radiator, its also on the cyinder head, but thermostats are only mechanical doors regulated by temperature that allow hot water from the engine go cool down on the radiator. let me know
Make sure that the odometer is set to miles and not kilometers. Hold the button down (while in the regular odometer setting, not the "trip odometer" setting) until it changes to miles. The temperature display will automatically change to fahrenheit. We just figured this out today.
