Volkswagon beetle 2001
Hi Brenda....are you sure you want to do that? There
is a malfunction....a bag could inflate while you are
driving....who knows how that would turn out? At
least get an estimate for the problem. Good luck to
you.
Regards,
Dennis
DO NOT TURN IT OFF! It is indicating that there is possibly something wrong with your airbag deployment system. Get to a certified (where air bags are concerned) mechanic and have it checked out. PLEASE, do it SOON!

You need to use VagCom (the Audi diagnostic software - available for free at www.ross-tech.com, and you'll need to buy a cable from eBay), and you can find out which bag is tripping the light. If you have side bags in the front seats, chances are it's one of those - moving the seat too far back or down can strain the connector under the seat and cause it to open just enough to trip the light (happens on the Audi A4 all the time - mine happened three times before I fixed it for good). Once you know which bag it is, you can fix it. If it's one of the seat bags, zip tie the connector tightly to hold it together. Under the seat, the airbag has its own separate connector, and it's yellow (by law, all airbag connectors are yellow). Zip-tie it tightly without pinching any wires, then turn off the light. You should be good to go after that.

i would get a haynes manual. it should tell you how to change it out step by step
SOURCE: both headlights stopped working. fuses are ok and highbeams work
check the headlight bulbs, it's quite possible they are both burnt out.
