My clutch is slipping is thewre any adjustment ? or do i need to get a new one it getting to where the shift lite comes on in fith gear what can i do?

Look for an adjustable cable to put in your Jetta. They are available through the aftermarket.

if its slipping it needs to be replaced there is no adjustment if it was a hydraulic failure it wouldn't go into gear

It does sound like your clutch needs replacing. Adjusting the clutch may help but will not solve the problem. If the transmission has not been serviced for a long time it is a good idea to replace the transmission fluid, inspect the pressure plate. They may also start to wear.

Sounds like the clutch is slipping. If the clutch is bad, it will slip in high gears (4th & 5th) but seem to work fine in lower gears. Clutch probably needs replaced but have a mechanic check it out first because it's a fairly expensive job. If your clutch is actuated via a cable (not hydraulic), it may just need adjusting.

Now you know why the prior owner sold the bike. The problem is a bent shift fork. The engine comes out of the bike then the bottom end gets disassembled to a point where a new shift fork can be installed. The "grinding" is the dogs on the slider gear not fully engaging into first gear.

If your clutch is slipping the clutch plate is worn out and will have to be changed. This involves engine and gearbox has to be taken out - then the gearbox has to be sperated from the engine to remove the clutch assembly and replace the clutch plate with a new one.

There is no adjustment on this clutch as it is hydraulic and therefore is self adjusting.
