I have a 2002 Passat 4motion, and repaired the heater core. Now the key is stuck in the ignition and the gear seletor for the automatic is stuck in park. I may have broke something in the Selector.

you broke park lockout
or blew a fuse did you skip step 1
in the manual
remove battery lug NEG first ??
MY Second wild guess is connectors not put back at core pull job.

WHILE SHIFTING GEARS INTO 5TH GEAR THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND FELT LIKE THE CABLE MAY HAVE BROKE. THE GEARS WOULDNT SHIFT WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING

IF you have a cable actuated clutch then replace the cable complete. The gears will not change because there will be load on the teeth while the engine is running making changing very hard.

To change the gear change cables unpop the sliver center shroud un do about 10 self tapping screw. un do 4 13 mm bolts on gear stick bracket. this is all after you have taken gear knob off . which is held on by cable tie. then pop the bonnet remove air box. and disconnect cables red and black one on gear box linkage. and in side un do inspection plate brhind centre console .

Have you checked the rear brakes for siezing. After 5 years, it would not suprise to see the parking brake stuck and in need of some lubrication. Let me know what you find. I would raise the rear of the vehicle and try to spin the rear wheels.

1994 caddy deville. will only engage in park. When shift to reverse or drive, it does not engage the gear. Is transmission the only possible problem here?

well 1st check your fluid level and contamination and transmission seletor switch on your transmission otherwise your valve body not delivering fluid pressure to apply clutches to get ingear

2000 Durango ran fine, parked, satrated and it

well a number of things could be wrong with this, first check the fluid levels to insure that there is fluid in your transmision, next check to ensure that the shifting bar from the gear shifter is connected to the gear box controler, normally it is a bar that goes down by the steering colume, try getting a person in the driver seat and moving the gear seletor and make sure everything is moving that looks like it should, if a monting brace for this is broken it won't work

92 explorer, wont engage in any gear nor does it even feel/ sound like it wants to. fluid smells and looks good. its a 2wd.

check that the linkage is connected and that the seletor on the transmission is moving. If it is then you have a blown tranny
