have a compression check done on the engine If the motor spins faster then that indicates a compression problem form no resistance in the motor.

Hi John, The starter motor is located at the gearbox end of the engine. A heavy cable connected to the positive battery terminal will lead you directly to it. Regards John

Follow the positive battery cable-the end will be attached to the starter.
The starter will be mounted where the engine mates to the transaxle-the rear end of the engine.

Hi Robin, As the battery is new and presumably not defective, I think you should suspect the soloniod fitted to the starter motor. If that component has become defective it will give the sound you're reporting. Depending on where you live in the world and the labour charges, you can have the contacter's replaced or the starter motor (if labour charges are high) Regards John

someone has broke or disconnected a wire somewhere under the car whilst changing the starter motor ,but what or where i couldnt tell you without having car on the ramp sorry

The starter motor will be at the union between the engine and transmission. Follow the positive battery cable to it's terminal end (not the battery, obviously), and you'll be at the starter solenoid.

if you follow the red power lead it should take you to the starter motor

it could be your starter motor that cranks the engine to turn or your immobolizer its a security system better take it to a auto electrician
