I lined the timing marks the best as it looked but engine wont start unless you push gas pedal down , wont idle but runs if you give it gas .The water pump bearings were out a d ratteling and it wad idling then just died . Is it possible it bent valves or am i just not getting the timing right ? Its a 3.5 mitsubishi montero sport 2003 .
If it goes when giving gas then i'd look at the tps , get the OBD codes read as may just need a reset

sit with foot on gas at steady 3000 rpm, then turn on all your lights, hazard warning lights, heater, and window defrost, if the power drops , then you need a new battery....sometimes the battery power can control the engine idle, the alternator is only for charging the battery, not for running the cars electrics, this is the battery's job
