Quits like fuel pump goes out but has good fuel pres new delco
91 cavilier Z24 3.1 car quit just like the fuel pump went out,pulled over waited a min.started back up drove about 300ftquit agian like the pump was hot.about15 min it started agian but die before could get it in gear.towed it to the shop put a delco pump in it,cranked and ran good in shop,rev good also.tried to test drive,felt like it was starving 4 gas.(oh ya i put filter on it first.)i put another new delco pump in it.ran good for about 50 miles or so,then shut off and didn't start back for a couple of weeks.i drove it around with fuel pressure gauge taped to windshield a couple of days,it ran fine but i can't trust it now.drove it yesturday it died,it cranked back,drove it hard it did good until about the top of 2nd gear then acted like it ran out of gas,again.it was my brothers car,and he died 2 years and this sharp little car is what i have to remember him by,and i don't want to just park it.

you don`t say how you know it has fuel. did you check the fuel pressure with a gage and did you check the fuel volume as well. this sounds like a fuel pump problem.
It sounds like either your fuel pump has quit or your fuel filter is badly plugged. If you crank it for a while and do not smell gasoline back at the exhaust, your fuel pump has probably quit.
Hi, There is a fuel shut off soleniod near the throttle body. Check and/or replace it. Also have a mechanic check the computer codes for more fuel related items. Good luck.
i believe it is going to be the ignition control module if no check engine light is on giving a different code. if light is on it might give a crank sensor or cam sensor code. i would check the module first
I have the same problem with my bimmer.To find out if the fuel pump problem take fuel pump out and get something kinda nock on the pump put it back in and start the car. It will run but not 1 or 2 days it will die again. You know that mean.Replace the pump.
If the engine starts and then quits when you release the key to the ON position it could be the anti-theft systemhas locked out. Turn your key to the ON position and wait ten minutes until the ANTI-THEFT light on the dash board goes out. The car will now start and run if that was the problem.
I bet you frequently run the truck very low on fuel if so you killed the fuel pump when you replace this pump its a good idea to use only a genuine AC DELCO FACTORY pump because the vortec engine needs a MININUM of 60 PSI fuel pressure to start http://www.aceautomotive1.com
