I recently posted I was having hard spots in my steering system on my 1992 Lexus LS400. Aside from the hard spots The power steering was pretty smooth I was told By one of the experts here that I need to replace the rack and Pinion. So I purchased a rebuilt rack and Pinion from Detroit axle. After installation my steering is now stiff i'm wondering if now has my power steering pump going out all of a sudden. Or could it be the solenoid the screws into the rack and Pinion? I do appreciate any answers you might have

Make sure all air is bleed out of the system by turning the wheel fully to one side then the other until the air is out of system and fluid level is at the correct level before replacing the solenoid.

SOURCE: The power steering on my 1992 Lexus LS400 has real

this problem indicates a bad steering rack. the bushings in the rack are worn and have caused groves in the housing causing the binding. the only solution is to replace the steering rack. if a problem was the power steering pump it would not get easy when you turn the steering wheel further the problem would be there all the time.

Will a power steering pump off a 98 lexus es300 work for a 98 lexus ls400?

best ask a steering specialist shop as the engine identification shows a es300 as a 1mz-fe (3.0 ltr) and a ls400 as a 1uz-fe (4.0 ltr)
there may be mounting differences between the engines

the steering lines fittings are different sizes it could be the sensor however make sure all the air is bleed out of the system first. to do this with the engine running turn the steering wheel full left and full right until you hear no noise then check the steering fluid level and repeat as needed.

Why does power steering get harder at lower speeds

if the belt is nice and tight and is spinning around the pulley and fluids are full, then your steering pump is going bad
