Repair wiper linkage

Can the linkage be repaired? Is there a replacement kit. The drivers side wiper does not move but can be moved manually.

Most likely the spline is stripped where the wiper blade connects to the linkage. All I do is insert a wire ( soft metal, like bailing wire) between the wiper arm and the linkage and tighten down the nut. But if the linkage doesn't move, then the linkage set has to be replaced. I have yet to find replacement parts for these. Salvage yard is your best bet.

SOURCE: Wiper don.t work

Remove the wiper arms amd the panel between the hood and the windshield. There are teflon bushings on the actuater arms that wear out, they are cheap and available from the dealer but can be tricky to install because of the limited access.

SOURCE: Driver's side windshield wiper stopped working.

Hello, I would say that is exactly what has happened. If you can move the wipers with no resistance it's likely one of the bolts has come loose. Both wiper arms are linked to one wiper motor.

Hyundai Atos 2000 one of the front wipers not working.

Try this test. With the key OUT of the ignition stand outside the vehicle, reach out and try to move the broken wiper blade by hand. Does it move with no resistance? Does it feel like 'clicking' as you move it? Does the other wiperblade move slightly as you move it or does it not move at all?
This will help work out if it is the wiper arm slipping on it's drive spindle or if the problem is deeper down underneath in the rods and arms moving the wiperblades. Please comment below with this information and I'll try to help you more.

I have a 02 grand Prix GT and my wiper's are not working properly. The driver side' comes up a little bit while the pass side wiper works normally. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

First, you should find a repair manual or even look for a YouTube video that displays the mechanism. Generally, a single electric motor drives the two wipers through interconnected links and pivots. If one side works and the other doesn't, or only provides a partial movement of the wiper blade, it is possible the linkages have disassembled for some reason. It doesn't seem that you will need a new motor. Instead, a pivot joint could have become disconnected or simply dislodged. Or the plastic pivot may have broken after 14 years of use. In any case, you will have to figure out how to find and examine the linkages to fully understand what needs replacing or repairing. You could also stop by an auto parts store and ask to see a new linkage mechanism. It may come as a complete package along with a new motor, in which case you will also end up with a new electric motor as part of the repair.

Either the wiper arms are loose or stripped on the pivots or the wiper linkage is broken. Try tightening the arm to pivot bolt. If that doesn't work, remove the plastic cowling and examine the linkage. You can buy new linkage for it.

You may want to remove the cover over the wiper nut and tighten it down. Make sure you don't exceed the torque settings. The nuts have a tendency to back off causing the wipers (or one wiper) to slip.

You know it sounds like a break in the linkage as the wiper motor will not usually let you freely move the wiper arms yourself. Generally there is an arm attached to the motor which in going around and around makes a side to side action in the wiper linkage. Without any more info I would suspect a failure in the ball joint connection between the wiper motor arm and the linkage. On a car that old most likely you should look around for a replacement used linkage on eBay or Craigslist. Once obtained, get yourself a repair manual or search on youtube for a video on how to remove and replace the linkage. there are many folks selling repair manuals on CD for about 10 bucks on eBay.

My driver side wiper is not moving but the passenger side is. It is a 1993 Mazda MX6 LS. Any ideas?

it seems the motor is working ok so it only leaves your linkage or the actual wiperarm mounting to fault.remove the retaining nut on the drivers side wiper arm usually a 12 or 13 mm spanner.once removed turn wipers on and keep hands clear, look at the drivers side spindle,if it turns when the other wiper moves your linkage is ok and you need a new arm, if it dosn't move then its your linkage, hope this helps!
