Need to test battery but remote nor manual key can open trunk
SOURCE: keys lock in trunk alarm will not allow trunk switch to lock
The solution is to pull out the back seat to get into the trunk. There are two bolts holding the bottom part of back seat (bolts located between bottom and top sections). Then pull out bottom section of back seat and you see the hinge for the top section, remove the bolts and then you can lift up and access the trunk. It's not that hard.

Possible issue with the remote controller unit - main board or sub assemblies. The intermittent behavior seems to indicate that the board is erratic to detect at the same time the individual locks work at times.
So make sure all the connectors to the door and to the main board controller are tight. You can remove the main unit and check for any loose connections or clogging, specially water in all the door units or in main unit. If so dry and test.
Otherwise the main unit is a suspect.
SOURCE: trunk release and remote do not unlock the trunk
Try pushing down on the trunklid as you try the release from the front seat. The catch may need to be repositioned.
If you do not hear the solenoid- check the fuses and replace the burned out fuse. This can happen when some cell phone car adapters fail- they blow the fuse to the accesories.
