If you try to use a blank key chip in a vehicle that is meant to use a key with a chip installed, the chances are excellent that your vehicle will not start. The computer chip in the key mates with a piece of program code in your car's computer system. When the two halves are there, your Pontiac will start easily, however, if you attempt to bypass the coded key, your van won't start. For most drivers, this is not an issue, unless an ignition key is lost. If you lose the key you will have to replace it with a matching one which will prove expensive. It can cost up to $85 or more to replace this type of key in some cars because the key has to be encoded to work with your van. Unless you know someone with a blank spare for the same vehicle who will give the key to you, as well as someone who can program the key, then you will have to pay the freight on a new key and encoding. For the sliding doors you need to clean the contacts, there are 6 or 8 on both sides, just wipe them clean as they are probably covered in oil/grease/grime.

SOURCE: Pontiac Montana '99 Water Thermostat removal

Yes, it can be removed and run without the thermostat. However, your gas mileage will suffer and the heater may not work very well.

How to unlock the doors on a 2005 pontiac montana

The dead battery is most likely why the vehicle isn't unlocking. No power to the motors that work the door release. Does the key turn at all in the key slot? Most people only use the remote for locking so the mechanical part of the key slot gums up and stops working with lack of use. Try spraying inside the key slot with a releasing oil like WD40, leave it to soak in and try turning the key again. you might need to do this a few times.
Does the trunk have a key slot? Try that as well then you can simply climb over into the front of the van.

How can i deactivate the anti theft system in my 2000 pontiac montana van or put a bypass on it?

I think this has 2 small diameter white wires that send a signal to allow it to start. if you look under the dash by the steering column you should see the wires. you can try to cut the wires and join the two wires that do not go up the column together to see if this will by pass the key switch.
