SOURCE: adding freon to the auto air conditioner, the

On that model,it will cycle on and off while you add freon. If it does not ,then the ac system might have a problem. The low side pressure switch is located on,or near the accumulator .Unplug the switch and take the wire end plug and connect the two plug in`s together(cross it out on the wire). This will make the ac compressor engage and you can charge the system,do not leave the wire connected, plug it back up to switch. If the ac compressor does not come on ,then have the system checked out.

SOURCE: air cond.

Typically the AC system will protect the compressor when the system has low pressure, no R134. If you have the correct tools you can test the pressure by attaching a gauge to the low pressure side of the system. Anything below 10 psi will typically not allow the compressor to engage. The other tool you will need in addition to a gauge, or some quick connect hoses used to install freon also has a gauge. Any way a low system can be purged and should be prior to charging. It is a requirement of repair shops to purge the old freon into a system or container, however, I dont have one and the small amount being purged wont hurt. Step 1 purge the system, open the valve on the hose, it will stop hissing, this should be done with the car off. Step 2 close the valve on your hose and start the engine, turn on the AC to max with fan on high. Screw a can of R134 on the valve on the end of the hose and turn the valve to open the can, shake the can for a few seconds and open the valve slowly, you will feel the can getting cold, turn the can up side down and open the valve completly. If you havve a healty AC system and compressor it should turn on at some point during the emptying of the 1st can. The air should begin to blow cold. Check your pressure before using another can. If you think you have a leak get R134 with leak detector. Dont go over 45-55 PSI.

SOURCE: front aircond. blows warm. Rear air is cold

this is caused by a defective temperature control blend door actuator motor. Don't overhcahrge the system, if one part of dual climate works ok the problem is not the compressor or the system charge

SOURCE: ac repair

Your Trail Blazer does not have a rear compressor. It will have a rear expansion valve and a rear evaporator core. Changing the line will depend on exactly where it is leaking. The lines run all the way from the front to the rear so it can be a chore. Do you know which line it is and about where it is leaking? There are a high and low side line, and they will have connections in places. With more info on the location I can look it up on the GM service site and give you more info. Good Luck

SOURCE: 1996 impala ss air conditioner compressor is very noisy

That clutch and coil are serviceable without replacing the compressor but I have had little success with this as usually the clutch gets in that shape subsequently from activity going on inside the compressor which means that clutch is failed generally for a reason.replace the compressor -orfice tube-reciever drier and happy motoring......

Only way to tell if A/C Evaporator Core Orifice tube is plugged is by looking at A/C gauge readings , An if it is plugged you more then likely need a new compressor , they become plugged with metal particles from worn out compressor. Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

Why does the air conditioner compressor cut off as soon as it come on ?

Would either be low on freon or there is a blockage in the system. Your system has a low and a high pressure limit switch. If it is low on freon the compressor will make a suction on the low side and the system will kick off the compressor, and if there is a blockage in the system the compressor will make too much pressure and the high limit will cut out the compressor. You will need to have a set of gauges installed and see what your system is doing.

if the compressor kicks on then it may not need gas, you may have another problem, caution dont blow up can or system, if the can is connected to low side and the compressor is running then it should take the freon.

Need to charge r12 in1965 newport

Find the low or bigger line at compressor. If the schrader valve is'nt there, follow the line till you come to a valve with a cap on it.Get a couple of cans of r-12 from a parts house, also pick up an installation kit .Screw the installer hose on the valve, screw the freon bottle to the installer(I'm calling it an installer because you probably don't have a full set of hoses and gauges ) Any way, start the car and turn on the air conditioner. If the compressor clutch is engaging and disengaging, keep adding freon untill it engages for at least a minute or two.

Hi have an 04 hyundai tiburon i dont know where to locate where to put freon for my aid condtioner

STEPS TO CHARGING YOUR CARS COOLING SYSTEM:

STEP 1) Look under the hood of you car on the left side of your cars engine. There should be two stainless steel lines coming from a stainless steel cylinder to your cars compressor. The two lines have plastic dust caps on them sometimes they are blue or black. Usally the black has the larger diameter tubing that runs between the evaporator and the compressor. This will be the port that you hook the refrigerant hose up to.

STEP 2) Start your cars engine after you have secured the hose hook up to the air conditioner line port. Once the cars engine is running, turn your cars AC on to Max cool. Shake the can of coolant well. The gauge on the can of coolant should read in the blue but if it is in the green your air conditioners pressure will be between 0-25 pounds per square inch. This means you will have to add refrigerant to the compressor.

If your cars air conditioner pressure is in the blue. The system has the proper amount of refrigerant and you do not need to add. If the gauge reads in the yellow you may want to seek professional help because refrigerant is not what is wrong with the unit and is probably something more technical and most likely something that you do not want to attempt to do on your own. The red on the gauge means do not add any refrigerant at all and to seek professional help.

STEP 3) If the pressure of your air conditioning system is in the green it means it is safe to add the refrigerant. You should wait for your air conditioning compressor to switch on before squeezing the trigger to add the coolant. When the compressor switches off then release the trigger and repeat until your pressure gauge on the coolant can says that the coolant is in the proper range. If the needle on the gauge is in the top part of the blue you have successfully charged your cars air conditioning unit.

STEP 4) Release the attachment from the tubing port and replace the dust cap back in it's proper place and you are done. The cars air should be cool and your compressor should cut off and on less often. If problems persist you should consult a mechanic or someone that has experience with air conditioning systems.

Air conditioner does not cool in 2000 Yukon. How do I check freon level and how to replace freon if need be

Get an r134a refrigerant add kit from Walmart or your local auto parts store.

You can even get a can of Arctic Freeze by Intermatics that has a hose and a gauge on it.

Connect the hose to the low side port. You can find this port on the 'thicker' piping that comes off of the compressor (versus the thinner piping that comes off the compressor which is the high pressure side).

Pressure should read 25 psi to 45 psi on the low pressure side when the compressor is running and the a/c is on.

Pressure should read 75 psi to 100 psi on a hot day when the car is off.

However, you'll want the a/c to be running when you add freon.

Press the button on the can to install more freon, if needed.

My daughter's 2000 Dodge Neon's air conditioner wasn't cooling very sell so she took it in to have freon added. The shop drained all the freon out and then tried to add new freon but none will go into the...

you need the compressor running to get freon into the system
using gauges on a manifold you allow the compressor to suck the gas in to the system until you get a pressure reading at the high side gauge
That is the correct amount of gas for the system
take it to an accredited ac specialist shop to have the job done properly

2001 Saturn L200 Air conditioner issue

You need to make sure the freon is correct,by having ac gauges put on the system,if the compressor is running the gauges will tell if there is a problem with the ac system itself, now,it can be the temp door actuator motor that is in the dash,if it is not moving the temp door open,it will need to be replaced.

1995 j30 air conditioner just blows hot air. set to auto and no noise from compressor. happened all at once, working when car was shut off but not working when restarted. compressor going bad or a switch...

I would start with adding freon to system, from what you are stating freon is low. You may have a small leak, so use freon with leak seal, also use freon with gauge so you dont over fill and blow orings.
