no Not all ways true I changed the Oil sending unit on My 1993 Chrysler lebaron convertible 3.0 Now it is still Leaking and it is not the oil filter the leak is above the oil filter. some where it is not from the engine block area !!! I replace valve cover Gaskets . and Oil sending unit. thank u . still coming from above the Filter and it is not th e filer.......
This does sound like the oil pressure sending unit is going bad. Had an 02 Vette with the same issue.
The location of the sending unit is behind the intake manifold. You will unfortunately have to remove the manifold in order to replace the unit, but this is easy enough as the intake manifold is as simple as they get on the LS1 engine.
the lifter sounds like it is either worn, or starving for oil, i would 1st check the amount of oil on the dipstick, to make sure it is in the safe area, if ok, i would check the oil sending unit, on different jeep engines , the unit is located in different areas, you will have to see what size engine that you have, so you can locate the sending unit, , and if leaking or bad, [replace it, ] " if the unit is ok, i would have someone to give your engine a oil pressue test to see if it is getting the right amount of oil pressure, if it is not, it very possibly it could be your oil pump, hope this information was helpful.
The oil pump is in the pan you may be leeking oil from the oil sending unit next to the oil filter or the filter may be leeking . get under vehicle after safely securing it wipe off and figure out where it is leaking from if oil pan is rusted through replace oil pan. usually its the oil sending unit switch usually under 20 dollars for part and it screws on and off
