SOURCE: Toyota Mr2 Automatic transmition problems

It sounds like maybe the torque converter might not be fully seated into the trans, try taking it out and re install and turn the converter clockwise then counterclockwise while keeping pressure on the front of the conv. until you feel three little clicks or thuds. When it is fully seated you should barely be able to get your fingers between the the bell housing and the converter. while you have the converter out check the front pump seal again for damage if it looks chewed replace it put some trans fluid on the hub that goes into trans, the shiney part then slide it in. Hope that helps also when installing the trans make sure you tighten the bellhousing bolts first then do the torque converter bolts, that way you won't accidently unseat the conv. You have to turn the flywheel to get to all the bolts make sure everything is tight and good luck.

5w30 weight Oil is reccomended for most temperatures for your vehicle. You will use just a little under 4 quarts of oil to achieve a proper reading on your oil dipstick.

What type oil do i use in my 2005 toyota echo

Have you looked at your oil fill cap? It should tell you what type of oil to use. I have a 2002 Echo 1.5l and mine says 5w-30. I also have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe and it has a Toyota engine 1.8l that is slightly bigger than the 1.5lmotor in our Echo and it also takes 5w-30. I think you would be safe using 5w-30; however, I would look at your oil fill cap.

How to change the oil and oil filter on my echo

Toyota recommends 5W-30 and if you look closely you should see it printed on the oil filler cap itself. I have been changing my own oil like over 25 years and equally important if you want to keep your Toyota Echo engine in good running condition is hidden under a silver cowl that has like 10mm bolts you need to unfasten this metal cover on order to get a oil filter wrench on the actual oil filter. By the way, hopefully you are replacing it with a genuine Toyota oil filter as they are relatively inexpensive like $3 to $5 and removal counterclockwise is probably the most difficult part of an oil change, besides dumping the dirty oil into a container and cleanup to me is the filthiest part- but hey you saved like at least $10 or more by Doing It Yourself...

Hope the Above Info Helps!

2000 toyota echo, transmission won't shift to 4th

First thing to do is check the fluid level if that ok you may want to think about having the transmission filter and fluid changed, there are other possibilities but check these first
