SOURCE: 1997 ford explorer 4.0 sohc how to set timing

There are no timing marks. Timing is done using special tools to hold the crank at top center and a tool to hold each camshaft in position. the cam sprockets are not pinned to the cams. there are also dummy tensioners installed to take up the slack till the tightening is done. Also there are chains at the back of the motor that can only be timed with the motor out of vehical.

SOURCE: 318 timing chain setting m42 engine with out bmw tools

Remove the cam cover, remove the spark plugs, turn the engine to number 1 TDC, put a pencil in spark plug hole number one and twist the crank back and forth and make doubly sure you are at TDC. Now loosen the four bolts at the front of each cam sprocket, check TDC again with the pencil and rocking the crank, now take the pencil and lay it across the flats at the back of each cam. Twist the cams very carefully so that the pencil sits flat on each cam square. Snug up the sprocket bolts and use the pencil to check TDC again! Now check the cams again. Repeat the procedure until you have the cams flat and the engine at TDC.

SOURCE: timing chain mark diagram for a 94 grand am????

Haynes lists the entire procedure for setting the position of the cams etc. Positioning of these is critical...If off by even a slight amount the valves WILL strike the pistons and destroy the engine. DO NOT use any parts made by SA Gear...They have no quality control and will deny any claim made against them. Make sure that the chain guides are in good condition and that the chain tensioner is operating properly.

What are the timing marks for a 2004 bmw x5 3.0 liter engine?

The timing marks for the cam chain are just basic set up. You will need factory special tools to lock crank and other shafts in place to do this correctly.

Set marks on a 2004 bmw 330i timing chain

There aren't any. If you are asking this question, you probably shouldn't be attempting to remove or replace the chain. You must have a special tool that sets the sprockets in the correct location and then mounts the chain and sprockets on the car together as a set. If you don't do this and try to guess, the engine will be severely damaged and probably will never run again. It is what is called an interference fit and if it is not timed correctly will smash up the internal components.

Bmw marks timing 7.8l

7.8L is the marking on the windshield wiper fluid reservoir and had nothing to do with the engine. With this level of competence, please do not attempt to replace the timing chain. (they're aren't any timing marks, btw)
