ABS light on RV comes on at will.

My abs light comes on whenever it feels like it. we have only 20,000 miles on this 26' Ford chassis E350 RV. Our mechanic told us there was nothing wrong with the brakes and that it was probably a sensor which could cost $1000... We have ignored it it makes me nervous. We love our RV. I would just like the abs light to be fixed. Any thoughts on why it comes on? grandmanomi

An intermittent ABS light problem can be as simple as cleaning the harness connector where it attaches to the sensor. I recommend having them inspected cleaned and a light coating of grease applied before reattaching. Depending on where you are located the shop prices can range from as little as $100 up to $300 for this service. Your mechanic is right there probably is nothing wrong with your brakes. If the light comes on and stays on, then I would certainly have it inspected.

1996 E350 RV, ABS caution/inop light comes on randomly, sooner when ambient air temp warm, above 50F. Have replaced ABS sensor in rear diff along with fluid in diff. Removed and reconnected wire...

Most vehicles with ABS will have speed sensors located on the rear differential, which you found, and one in each hub assembly up front. I have seen some GM vehicles have speed sensors on the rear hub assembly as well. Check the front hub assembly sensors, there should be a two wire harness that is clipped on to your shock mount up by the firewall. If you have an ohm meter you can measure the resistance of the sensor. If open or short obviously it is bad. I don't know the normal resistance of these sensors. Hope I could help, good luck!

if you feel grinding then you have not properly installed the pads
the abs sensor is in the same area so maybe you damaged or partially loosened the sensor

Using the C-Clamp is the proper way to retract the pistons. So it wasn`t your fault for the aABS light.
check the brake fluid level, check the wheel speed sensors connection on all 4 wheels,
Drive vehicle for a few miles too see if the ABS resets itself.
If the light is still on, then have the truck checked with a SCANNER for the ABS problem..

What is the name of this part#F4UA-2C286-AE?

this part is the ABS HCU ( Hydraulic part Unit) ; these break down due to low mileage on the #50 RV Cutaways ( be careful, NOT the same as regular E350). Dealer's do NOT stock this part and the cost is well over $1K !

unfortunatly .it requires a computer to remove the code.if youve done that you have access to one. go to the abs functions and tell it to bleed.

Truck not stoping and anti brake is working.

dosen't stop at all or just slow?, if the abs is working then you should feel the pulseing in the brake pedal just before tire lock-up, the tires will not lock-up with abs fully funtioning unless all four tires or two are in lock-up depending on the abs application, if abs fails it reverts it self to regular braking ability, hope this helps

Need to replace the ABS switch on '95 Ford E350  29 ft. RV.   Where located?   Is it just a 'swapout' of parts or is there more to it? Wintergreen75

there is no actual switch, there are speed sensors on the wheels and a contoller on the brake valve.have it put on a scan tool that can check abs systems to find out what needs repair.good luck.(did you check you fuses, fuse location and discription is in the owners manual, see index in the rear)
