Do you have a picture of an Isuzu UBS25 Trooper motor and trans coupled to the unit that selects the 4WDH, 4WDL, 2WDH? I need it because I may have damaged the selectors or linkages when I jacked up the transmission from underneath to create room to replace the CTS. The vehicle has been stuck in 4WDH ever since.

A 1992 anything that still runs?
is amazing...

photos here are rare for any Isuzu,
try googling ?
did you look at isuzu. i did and fails....
transfer case shift linkage its called
why not photo yours first. showing what you have.
we cant guess what driveline options are there. ever.
stick shift main box or the slush pump auto.?

the quotes:

"The transfer cases in 1991-96 models do utilize a control computer, however it is integral with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and is not individually removable. For servicing procedures of the PCM, refer to Section 4."

the this for 92
The transfer cases covered by this manual do not utilize a shift motor. Engagement of the transfer case and selection of the transfer gears is performed with the transfer gear shift lever inside the passenger's compartment.

the real oem parts page sells no linkages now.
so no photos there.

remove the shifter, 4wd
then put the xfr case into 2h by hand
does that work, then the shifter is bent. (links)
easy peasy japaneezy

SOURCE: how do I check the transmission fluid of my 98 Isuzu trooper ?

In fact, you can. The large transmission pan has two plugs in the bottom. The higher one is a fill plug. The lower one is a drain plug. The proper procedure for checking the level is: A) Drive vehicle until transmission reaches operating temperature (go for a 30 min drive). B) Park vehicle and apply emergency brake, run gear selector through all gears (engine running, pausing 5 sec.'s in each gear) from Park, down, and back to Park (very important to be in park when checking level). C) Immediately remove the upper fill plug and check level with your finger, it should be just up to the hole, fill as necessary. NOTE: If more than a dribble of fluid drains out when you first open the fill plug then it was overfilled or the procedure was not followed. Use a catch pan under the hole just in case. Filling of the fluid is by means of a small pump and hose, commonly found at auto parts stores.

SOURCE: 1998 Isuzu Trooper Shop Manual

The 1998 Isuzu Trooper is identical to the 1996 & 1997 Troopers with the 3.2L V6 motor. Chilton-Haynes have a decnet and detailed manual for this car. It's available on Amazon.com. That's where I got mine!

SOURCE: 1995 isuzu trooper manual transmission

Hello smeet3992: The transmission uses 5w-30 for tempretures up to 95 degreese in tempreture. Uses 15w-40 for all tempretures greater then 50 degreese. If you are in an area that has extreme fluctuation in tempretures I would use the 15w-4o engine oil. I also senrt a picture of where to check the oil at. Make sure you pull the right plug. The reverse idler pin has the same size bolt head.

SOURCE: 2000 ISUZU TROOPER WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. CHECK

If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..

I have a 1997 Isuzu trooper-limited. Where is the transmission dipstick

There isn't one. You need to climb under it and remove side filler plug on trans (with vehicle warmed up and on level ground) Correct level = dribble of trans fluid from fill hole.

1990 isuzu trooper w/ auto trans, 2.6 L: will not stay in overdrive. Is the auto trans oil temp sender unit faulty? Where could another be purchased?

I worked at Dealership which sold these things new. The transmission is notoriously weak...have a transmission shop you trust check it out. I have rebuilt a few of those transmissions, and overdrive is usually the first thing to let go.Don't drive it for long:the contamination running thru the trans.will cause more damage, add to the repair and leave you stranded somewhere.Sorry but I don't think you are getting away cheaplyThe Honda Passport is a Rodeo with a Honda grille.you can still buy some Isuzu mechanical stuff thru Honda stores.Good luck

Isuzu trooper stuck in 1st gear

Likely the forks on the shift rail inside the trans are sliding on the shaft or are worn. I believe your unit needs to be removed to check this.

4WD selected but only RWD active

Hi,
Your sami sounds as if the either the lockers, the axles or the transfer box are not doing too good... An open locker or a broken axle will steal all the power going to the front of the car. A transfer problem is also a good reason for this kind of thing, but this usualy happens with some noise, so you'd probably know if the transfer was bad. The front axle hub a.k.a. the diff can also be bad. I'd take off both lockers - 12 screws on each and a circlip (make sure they are in the free position ). You can now see the axles themselves and try to rotate them manually. While engaged in 4wd - they should not move more than a 1/4 turn. If both move free your diff or transfer box are bad, depending whether you see the front driveshaft moving or not. If drvshft is moving - transfer is bad. If not - the diff is gone. If only one is free - your axle is broken.  Not a biggie to diagnose but one hell of a pita to fix... I'd advise you to head to the shop and and have a pro fix it. Cheers emi

Where is the thermostat on a 2000 trooper

Please post what engine you have! There are a couple different motors offered.
You should be able to follow the upper radiator hose to the t-stat housing on either the 4cyl or gm V6, I 'm not sure if there is another engine option for that year. I was previously a Isuzu tech 10 years ago, but am not up to date on newer models.
