Before you go ahead and pull your hair out, do a reset procedure first

maybe the oil change people didn't do it properly

of course pop the hood, check the oil level, crawl under, check for leaks at the drain plug and filter ~ or let the shop re-check their work

I have heard these cars can be very picky when it comes to the type of oil used. Also it is recommended that no additives be used because of the variable valve timing that is controlled by oil pressure. Some of the people who have had these problems have found that changing the oil again (possibly multiple times) with recommended product takes care of the problem.

The oil light keep telling me that i need oil when i already did a oil change what could it be

If you definitely got to change the oil after the oil change counter reset and then went out and had to be either a faulty oil pressure sensor or oil pressure failure.

My change oil light never goes off even though I had it changed and now my service vehicle soon light is on even though its been running fine

The change oil light needs to be reset after each oil change...some shops are not knowledgeable on how to do this...Your owners manual will instruct you how to reset the oil change light...The service engine soon is a catch all for low fluids and other needs...Be sure to check your oil level again...to clear the service engine soon light, you can disconnect either battery cable for 15 minutes then reconnect...if the service engine stays on...then you need to have your Grand Am checked...Auto Zone does a free diagnostic of check engine light codes...:)

How it reset service engine light

Is it the "oil change req." light? Your owners manual will have the process for reseting the oil change light.
If it is "service engine soon" light, the vehicle will need to be scanned with a professional scanner.

Oil Change Reset
A press of the OIL CHANGE RESET switch will allow you to
reset the oil life feature to 100% (or your Personalized Oil Reset
Percentage). After you have the oil changed, you must execute
the following procedure. Press the OIL CHANGE RESET switch
and hold for five seconds as the M/C counts down for five
seconds. After a successful reset the Message Center will display
“OIL LIFE RESET TO 100%.” If you have established a
Personalized Oil Reset Percentage, the display will show that
percentage instead of 100%. To ensure accurate oil life
indicators, perform this reset procedure only after an oil change.
Your Personalized Oil Reset Percentage allows you to establish a
smaller oil change interval than the manufacturer’s
recommended interval. To establish your Personalized Oil Reset
Percentage perform the following procedure:
1. Press and hold the OIL CHANGE RESET switch and press
the RESET switch while the display is still counting down
the 5 seconds to reset. The display will change to “START
OIL LIFE AT XXX%.”
2. Press the OIL CHANGE RESET switch until the displayed
percentage is the Personalized Oil Reset Percentage that you
desire. Your choices are 100%, 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%, 50%,
40% and 30%.
