Blinking "D" indicates an internal transmission issue, continuing to drive it may cause further , more expensive repairs.

My check engine light comes on then it start to blink once I start driving, 1997 town car. 4.6

You need to have the car scanned. It is a free service at Autozone,Advance, or Oreilys autoparts. Then the clerk can tell you some of the possible parts you need. If you get the Code numbers, we can tell you what the onboard computer is telling you.

Be careful if it is a Code 401, for that engine the scan can be wrong. If 401 comes up, it can be a clogged EGR port in the Intake manifold.

My 97 expedition starts and runs good I'm driving down the road, Then the overdrive light starts blinking on the end of the shifter, So when I come to a stop then start to go again it shifts real hard....

With the light flashing ,codes are stored in the transmission control module . Have the codes check an this will tell you whats wrong . Probably a sensor or shift solenoid or line pressure solenoid .

OVER DRIVE LIGHT BLINKING ON AND OFF AFTER STARTING CAR

You need to extract any code(s) that had tripped the tranny computer. Here, you can find what is actually going on with the transmission. The blinking OD lamp is telling you something is wrong with the transmission.

Hope this helped.
