Why is my truck misfiring/running poorly/rough idle

The old gas thing isn't good, but this seems pretty extreme unless the gas was visibly bad. Did you examine or filter it when you siphoned it to be sure it had no visible water or contaminants? Anyway, its certainly worth exploring before going farther. Make sure its got clean fresh fuel. Otherwise, maybe timing belt / chain trouble?

I was running it for the 1st time after this winter it was idling fine at high idle 1,200 rpm and i bumped the throttle and it ran really rough and will barely run at all, I just don't know what went...

sounds like it might have varnished gas in the system. I would change the fuel filter, clean out the lines with a good carb/fuel injector cleaner and fill the tank with fresh gas. I will run a little rough until the bad gas is run out. If this dont correct the problem then it might be in the fuel pump or fuel regulator areas.

Son let his car run out of gas, and when he filled it this code appeared with rough idle and stalling code 2002

I had a something similar to this happen to a girlfriend of mine. She has a 98 escort and it ran out of gas and the service engine soon light came on after she filled it up. If this is what your talking about check your owners manual. Most of the time if there is really nothing wrong with car you can drive it around ( Generally 20 min in town and 10 on the hwy with 4 idle periods (4 times of the engine being at idle) - do not cut engine off) and the light will go off. The rough idle code most likely happened when the engine ran roughly because. it was running out of gas.

2002 mazda mpv idle rough codes say lean banks 1&2 plus random multiple misfire

It could be something as small Such as plugged fuel Injectors. Run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner (I use Lucas Fuel Treatment) Through the system and fill your tank with a higher grade gas and it should improve...

Idles runs really rough can smell fuel

1. Could be changing the fuel filter
2. Leaking injector
3. The gas cap (tank gas input) is clogged - Gas tank does need some air
4. Pressure check you gas line - should be in the 20s and hold steady for hours. Could be slow leak

Runs good when on the gas but wont idle

Dear 24scott,

This sounds like it may be as simple as cleaning the water or gunk out of the gas tank which is what I always do 1st because it's easy and inexpensive.

If your fuel is contaminated with gunk, grime, water and/or bottom junk like rust this will cause stalling!

It's most likely bad fuel or clogged injectors so....
Fill the tank with High Test, Add some dry gas and a good fuel system cleaner or 2 or 3 and this should dissolve all the gunk and clean the injectors!
Read & follow the cans' instruction carefully.

If this cures the problem never let your gas tank get below 1/4 and especially never run it to empty as this is when the gunk and/or water will enter the system!
This Should FixYa!

Running rough, no power misfiring

i had that problem once. when i got under half a tank of gas in the tank. What i did was i dumped one bottle of gas line deicer in the tank and i have never had it agian. you may have some water in the tank. from condasation or i have a stong feeling i got my water from the gas station. i was using the same station all the time. so i tryed another gas station and so far no more rough idleing which was caused by the water i think and i am getting better fuel milage to. i hope this helps.
