Could be a fuse needs replaced, BUT, always check the ground. No ground, no power.

Have you checked the wire harness that goes between the hatch and the body? The constant opening and closing weakens the wires. Could also be the ground wire, I believe is inside the hatch. It could have come undone. If you have an owners manual, it should guide you to the defogger fuse. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

It sounds like you have a grounding issue somewhere. Look up a fuse diagram for the cabin fuse panel. Start from there.

The rear defroster and wiper is not working on my 2007 gmc Envoy. Is there a way to test the lif gate module and how do I get to it?

May not be the module, or fuse. ALWAYS check the ground on this stuff first thing. If need be, take a piece of wire and hod the bare ends on the ground connection and other end on a clear spot on the bumper and have someone push the button to turn on the wiper. A good spot would be where the wiper comes thru the door to hold the wire on and other end on bumper to test ground fault.

Is there a common fuse that runs rear wiper and rear defrost

No there is no common fuse, but the Liftgate Module controls both of these functions. Check fuse #3 in the rear fuse box.

Replace wiper motor to correct problem, removing fuse will cause other problems as there are other devices run by one fuse. You could unplug wiper motor if acessable.
