Driving a 2009 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Liter with 200K on the motor. Was told by my dealership that the valve seals are worn on my vehicle. If they are worn out, would they affect the compression on a cylinder leak test and would I see oil burning through my exhaust? OBD code P0305 showing. No oil burning visible. Check engine light is on (solid) but if it starts flashing vehicle starts shaking and loss of power is experienced. If I shut off the car and re-start, problem disappears but check engine light stays on (solid). Problem exists only on idle but never when driving. Is there any chance that the seals be worn and no oil burning occurs? I'm guessing that it may be a faulty EGR valve and not valve seals but not sure where the EGR valve is located on this vehicle. If valve seals are worn, is there valve seal conditioners that may help and what brand do you recommend? Any help or opinion on this would be greatly appreciated! Really not looking forward to spending $5000 on re-building the head. Thanks!!
You are right posible bad egr valve or you have carbon bild in the egr system and when came loose block the seat at the egr valve seat instal new egr valve with speciar gasket with screen an posible you save a lot
Testimonial: "Thanks for the help. Where is the valve located on this vehicle? I have found a valve that's called a purge valve. Is that the same as the EGR or different. Can`t find any info on this car."

you need to do a oil psi test to find out if it is an engine problem or a sender problem.

Answer to question 1) Absolutely, what you are describing is exactly what you would notice and feel with a faulty c/o! Significant power loss and a shaking/vibration that feels as though it's coming from the transmission. I would venture a guess that the computer detected an engine misfire before you noticed the problem and it gave you a "heads-up" with the check engine light. I would go ahead and change all of the plugs if it's been a while and at least the c/o on these 2 specific cylinders.
Answer to question 2) Several things could cause this sound. First, and most likely with the 5.4, from what you describe you have lifter "ticking". Typical for Ford, not hating, just saying. In fact I own a 98' like yours. The other possibility is that it's an exhaust leak. You can determine which it is with a mechanics stethascope or even a short length of garden hose. With the vehicle running, take your instrument and place it very closely at one end of your valve cover and the other end to your ear and slowly move to the other end of the cover listening for the "tick". Now move to the other cover and repeat the process. If in fact this is where your sound is coming from it will be very obvious when you find it. If there is no noticeable change in the sounds at the covers then begin to inspect the exhaust system starting at the manifold coming off of the engine. Hope this info helps to solve your problem!
SOURCE: oil on only one plug
Year make and model ?
Was the oil on the tip of the plug, or on the outside ?

One of the gaskets has blown at a point where the a water jacket is blowning into the cylinders but not mixing with an oil jacket on the heads. Try to use some Bars Leak and see if you can get it to seal and if not, their are also aluminum shavings mixed with sealer for some of the worse problems. If it seals you will then know that it will need a gasket replacement at some point
