2002 Chevy Tahoe. Around 3 years ago the 1st

2002 Chevy Tahoe. Around 3 years ago the 1st problem started. Anytime you had under a quarter of a tank of gas and let it sit over night it wouldn't crank the next morning, along as you never let it get below a quarter of a tank everything would be fine. Then around 8 months ago, it started to, randomly without warning, quickly lose power then shut off while driving. It's just been getting worse and worse and happening more frequently. When it shuts off I'll coast to the side of the road and try and recrank it, sometimes it will crank right back up and sometimes it will take 10mins before it will. Then after I finally get it cranked up I might go the whole day without having the problem or go a few miles down the road and the same thing happens again. The other day I counted, and on a 60 mile trip it shut off 20 times. I've had the fuel filter and fuel pump replaced and if anything that just seemed to make the problem worse! Any help is welcomed, Thanks in advance!

If a vehicle shuts off while driving down the road. then restarts after about 10 minutes, its a bad crank sensor or the wiring to the sensor. A check engine light may not turn on. If the light is on. You can take it to any auto parts store to have the code read by a scanner for free. Auto-zone, Advanced ETC. Its worth a try! But first check the fuel pump relay, It may be getting hot and shutting down pump. Try swapping a relay of the same type, if it is ok, thats the problem. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: 98 Ford F150 w/4.6l Wont start. Hear fuel pump

have diagnostic codes checked to see if you have a cam or crank sensor fault. make sure fuel pressure is at the required pressure, just testing to see if you have fuel at the valve is not enough. replace all spark plug wires. if you replaced two then all are just as old and even when they "look good" does not qualify as "they are good". Replace coil pack. start up drive away happy

Almost sounds like it is leaking fuel. Do you smell gas at anytime? Also do you know if the fuel gauge is reading correctly?

EVERYTIME 2004 TAHOE GETS LOW ON FUEL (NOT EMPTY, BUT AROUND 30 MILES LEFT...BEFORE ANY INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON) IT WONT START AGAIN. IT WILL SIT OVER NIGHT AND WE WONT BE ABLE TO START IT....

Sounds like you have either a bad fuel pump or a leak in the line somewhere. With a leak in the line it will take a long time for the gas to get up toward the engine. When it sits over night the gas line empties back into the tank and the process starts all over again

Suburban will not start under 1\4 tank of gas.

yes it could be the fuel pump. my chevy truck was doing something similar, would start unless i parked on an uphill grade. when you turn the key through run to the start position the fuel system pressurizes. if your fuel pump is weak it can't draw hard enough to pull the fuel up. as long as the vehicle is running the fuel system is primed, but when you shut it off it runs back down to the tank. that's the way it's designed and it's not normally a problem, but if your fuel pump is getting tired it can't pull it up any more. just a tip, if you live in a hot climate, especially in the summer, your fuel pump will live longer if you keep it over a quarter tank. the fuel pump is really just a little electric motor that incidentally pumps fuel and generates a lot of heat. the fuel in the tank helps soak up the heat and let your fuel pump live longer. hope that helps

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump
