Hi there well here's a link to get the parts = http://www.swedishautoparts.com/960/Volvo-960-engine-gaskets-&-seals.html .The oil pan does not have a gasket, it uses the same sealant/glue as the head top. Are you sure you have a leak at those seams? Oil can migrate and be actually from a different source. Oil filler gasket, cam seals, oil cooler orings, oil separator hoses and housing are typical leakers.

And there is no way to avoid messing with the cams, removing the head top frees up the cams. But no special tools are required, it just makes the job simpler and quicker, something a dealer would invest in if they are going to do several heads on this model.

Use the Volvo sealant/glue, it is easy to work with and is worth the extra cost, also it is orange in color and makes it easy to view when applying. Cleaning the old material off is going to be the hardest and dirtiest part of the job. It is tedious and one has to exercise great caution to not scratch the mating surfaces, so using plastic scrapers or some hard wood, I have used chop sticks. If it does look like you need to do the oil pan, that is going to be a real pain, but also order the seals for the oil pick up tube, might as well renew those while the oil pan is off.

Good luck

My 960 1996 volvo not seclecting into drive

Hello
Since repair in any automatic transmission is way beyond the skills of any home do it yourself mechanic I suggest you find a local transmission repair shop and have them look at this problem and rive the car, they will do this for free in most cases in the hope of getting the job of repairing the problem. If you do need a transmission replaced go for a factory re-manufactured unit from the dealer or from a parts store like NAPA or Carquest, they have all the latest parts and upgrades and are far better quality than the ones you get at discount auto parts stores like O'Riley or Autozone for example. Yes they cost more but you get what you pay for. Get more than one estimate for the price to install the transmission if you get it from an outside source. Hope this helps.

How do you line up the cam gear to the camshaft on a 1996 volvo 960

just align the cam and crank marks with the marks on the covers. the timing marks WILL NOT ALIGN with the number one piston on TDC. just align the marks and the car will run ok. that's the correct way to do it.

I need the plastice marker light cover for my 2005 S80 Volvo.

The best place to get this part is from an auto recycling center ( i.e. junkyard). Get the Yellow Pages and look up
Automobile Parts & Supplies Used & Rebuilt for local parts. You can even use www.yellowpages.com for help. Call several places for prices. If no one has it, they can usually get it from another place for you.
Of course you can pay full price for a new item.

1996 volvo 960 sedan - check engine light is on

well I would take it to autozone or your local parts place for a free scan, yes they offer a free check engine light scan, they will give you a diagnostic trouble code and or a short description of what is wrong, do not goto dealer please , rip offs if you ask me, then once you get the codes, you can bring them back to me and we will look them up

Auto directional light lens is shattered

Forget the lens repair---it won't happen. You need to replace the whole assembly.

Purchase a used one at a salvage yard, and avoid the dealer. No one wants to sell a lens cover--trust me.

And, if you do happen to find (an aftermarket made in China), it won't meet Federal Standards, and could keep you from getting a valid vehicle inspection sticker (should you be in a state where you need it).
