I reccomend changing the fuel filter first. If it hasnt been changed in a while it could be clogged or have some type of blockage in it. If that doesnt fix it then I reccomend changing the fuel pump which is unfortunately inside the gas tank which would require removal of the tank.

Check your timing belt tension pulley.

Yes it does have an interference engine. If the problem is a broken timing belt, the odds are that since you were at speed when the problem occurred, you are looking, at a minimum, of cylinder head repair/replacement. There could also be piston damage.

Did you replace the ignition key lately?
Or have you tried replacing the battery in the key?
Can't bypass it unless you have a dealer code bypass, it's controlled in the ECM.

The timing belt doesn't appear to be broke but the bottom toothed pulley just spins with out rotating the belt. Any ideas? Also is this an interferance engine? The car is a 2001 Hyundai Elantra.

need to check breather lines at fuel tank sounds like its pressurising but normaly they run but run rough!

Check your motor mounts they can be needing replacement these hold your engine in place if they are loose your car will or can ****.
Easy fix but I would suggest a mechanic it's not to expensive.
