SOURCE: how to replace a blower motor resistor in a 2004 jeep liberty

You have to take the glove box off and it is right behind it, need a #20 Torx to take it replace it. The glove box is the hardest part of the job, I just replaced mine on an 05 Grand Cherokee but it didn't fix it for me, was well worth the $8.60 to try though.

SOURCE: On my 1999 Buick LeSabre the blower fan does not work at all

How about checking voltage into & out of resistor for difference. Some swear by high only when resistor goes, but in past I have had intermittent use of other speeds before it finally went & I had high only.

SOURCE: blower motor fan works on high setting only

The resistors are located in the firewall just above the blower motor. they have a heavier gadge wire going to it. As for the water if it is not antifreeze then you have a leak in your cowl area by the lower windshield. I ran in to this problem on several gm cars such as yours it can be deficult to find good luck

94 CHEVY Silverado ????,heat/ac fan not blowing. K1500?????? Hear clicking when selecting l'm, SET high but not blowing! WITH AIR OR NO A/C? FIRST IS FUSES, MAKE SURE THE BLOWER FUSE IS NOT BLOWN.
EASY NO? CHECK ALL FUSES FIRST. ON ALL ELECTRICS FAILING OF ANY KIND.
BAD FUSE, BAD WIRINIG , BAD CONNECTIONS. OR EVEN BAD RELAYS TO THE BLOWER OR BAD SWITCH BLOW.
THE OLD CARS , HAD A SPEED BLOW , RESISTOR BLOCK
THAT FAILS ON ALL SPEEDS BUT HIGH, SO ITS NOT THAT.
OWN A VOLT METER????
HERE IT IS, ANY OF THIS CAN FAIL THIS OLD
WE USES A VOLTMETER TO FIND THE POINT OF FAILURE.
A SHORTED BLOWER MOTOR CAN BLOW LEFT SIDE TOP
FUSABLE LINK.RIGHT FUSE BLOWN MAKES THE CONTROLLER DEAD.

How do you know if your blower resistor is bad?

Unlikely a blower motor resistor problem. If the resistor is faulty. the fan speeds will not work/fail on the lower speeds. High speed will normally always work. If the fan is non operational suspect a fan motor issue.Bad fan motor/switch/wiring to it

a resistor went bad for your blower motor. It is located by the blower motor on a circuit board. You can get the replacement resistor at Radio Shack and solder it in.This fixed my problem

Yes,could be your blower resistor is bad,it's right next to the blower motor,it controls the blower motor speed, easy to replace. 1993 Ford Escort Blower Motor & AC Switch

I'm going to start from the beginning.
The blower motor gets power from the high blower relay and it is grounded thru the fan switch and the resistor. So you should have power on the pink white blower wire coming from the high relay to the blower motor. The orange black wire from the motor is ground going to the resistor and fan switch. The blue wires on the control panel are for the ac compressor.
The high blower relay gets power from fuse number 5 in the box. The blower motor is grounded thru the resistor and then thru the fan switch.

Replace resistor on 1999 chrysler cirrus a/c heater blower only working on high IF I pull the switch out--still have the same problem==what's next???

According to the wiring diagram, it looks like the blower motor is grounded thru the resistor which is grounded thru the fan switch on the dash. High speed bypasses the resistor.
If you have power on the terminals coming out of the resistor, the problem could be in the fan switch.

BLOWER HEATER FAN SWITCH IS ONLY WORKING ON HIGH SPEED WITH LITTLE HEAT.

The blower motor fan is controlled by the blower motor resistor. Its the resistor which controls the fan on respective speed which you select. But if the resistor goes faulty, then it will not be able to set the required speed which you set for fan,so it works on high speed only. In this case you will have to replace the blower motor resistor. Check fog for the location of blower motor resistor location:--- see part number 8 in the diagram below. helpmech_11.gif

The blower motor resistor is located next to blower motor under the dash. Its fitted with 2 screws and a wiring connector. You have to remove the screws and wiring connector and take the resistor out and place the new resistor in same position and connect the connector as well as screws. ------------------- this should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

you replaced the switch or the resistor. They are two different parts. The resistor should be located near the blower motor. Since high speed bypasses the resistor I would say the resistor is the problem.

Also you didn't mention if you had auto heat, auto heat with navigation, or manual heat. It can make a difference in how to approach your problem. The info I provided above would be for manual heat since it is more common.

For more info on blower motor diagnoses you can click here. Your would be a ground side controlled system since the switch supplies the path to ground.

'99 Plymouth Grand Voyager fan switch issues

The problem is not with the switch, it's the blower motor resistor. The resistor is usually located in duct work near the blower motor. It will have 4or 5 wires going to it and is held in place with a couple screws. These things generate heat, so they put them in duct work so the fan blows air across them to keep them cool. Sometimes the plug gets hot and melts, you should be able to buy the resitor and the plug with wires (pig tail) from an auto parts store or a dealer. The resistors are usually about $50 the pig tail is about $30.

A/C and heater only works on level 4

you need to replace the resistor block or clean the contacts on the heater fan resistor block plug. find your fan and follow the wire to find the resistor block. it will have 5 wires coming out of it and be mounted in the duct work for the heated/ac. remove a few screws and pull it out and put the new one in.
