sounds like an IAC motor. that stands for idle air control motor. it adjusts throttle to keep at steady speed. could possibly be throttle positioning sensor though. pay attention to see if it does it worse while mashing breaks because if EGR is stopped up it can cause symptoms similar too.

It could be several things, most likely the idler pulley that keeps the serpentine belt tight. But could also be, power steering pump, altenator. ac compressor or water pump. The best way to find out is to remove the belt from the car by releasing the idler pulley tension. Then one by one check each component by feeling for slack in them and spinning them by hand to see if you feel
roughness. Good luck and dont forget to rate.

My car is shutting off when i stop at stop lights or just stop in traffic. What could be the problem?I drive a Lancer 2002

It sounds like your EGR system is malfunctioning. EGR or Exaust Gas Recirculation is only supposed to be active when your on the throttle or driving down the road. If your EGR system is allowing any amount of exaust gas past it at idle, then it can cause very harsh idle or cause the car to die.

Car ideling roughly ...not stalling

sounds like you may have a problem with your Idle air control valve, located on the throttle body. this is what controls the idle when coming to a stop or stopped and turning corners or basically when your foot is not on the gas pedal

My 94 Sedan DeVille had the same problem. The car ran great but would stall whenever I stopped at a stop sign or traffic light. Turned out to the the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It monitors and controls the idle. What happens is the secondary idle (idle when the car is warm) is too low. Since all the controls for fuel mixture, idle etc are done electronically, they can't be manually adjusted. The TPS is the most likely cause of your issue. A diagnostic test (performed free at most chain auto parts stores) will be able to confirm this or lead you to another component. Best of luck to you!
