Spray starting fluid into the air intake, if the engine starts and stalls right out you have no fuel pressure, next bypass the fuel pump relay and see if it starts.
When you say wont accelerate does the RPM flares that would be the transmission slipping, or you step on the pedal all the way and the vehicle has lack of acceration you can hear a hissing noise that would be a plugged exhaust. Here the thing you related it to fuel has the problem on the ignition coil is a powerstage if this stage acts up it allows you to accelerate you just dont go anywhere it back fire through the intake that would be the power stage it located on the ignition coil
There isn't one that I know of. Try checking the relay under the hood. Should be the one with a place to stick in a fuse. Try sticking a fuse in there and see if the fuel pump starts working.
Sounds like the relay is not shutting off fuel pump. Turn the key to on position ( not start ), pump should only run for a few secounds and you will hear a click and pump should shut off, if it keeps running relay is bad. If it works like it should than fuel regulator (if there is one) would be the next posability.
UNDER THE HOOD IN THE FUSE BOX. I HAD INTETRMITENT STARTING IN HOT WEATHER AFTER ENGINE WARMED UP. CHANGED RELAY AND HAS NEVER FAILED TO START IN 100 PLUS TEXAS HEAT.
