2002 kia rio stopped on me acting like it was starving for fuel. tried cranking and it did. I ran it for a few miles and it did it again and again until it just stopped and would not crank anymore. I towed it home and work up this morning and it started up. I think that it is the filter. What do you think? What about the coil?
Keep an ohmmeter handy in the car and when it stops pop out and check the crank sensor.
Check fuel pump pressure (an in-line test at the fuel filter)
Have you changed your fuel filter recently? For a inexpensive this to try, you might try this first. Unless you are constantly running on fumes, you've probably not killed the fuel pump, but that would be where you test the pressure from the fuel pump itself.
When the coil goes, in my experience, it doesn't act starved for fuel exactly, but will skip and jerk a bunch, then typically run super rich and die. If the exhaust is really gassy smelling maybe.
I think the fuel filter is a good bet of somewhere to start for sure
Need more data. Check fuel pressure at the injector rail.

i am having the same problem, thought it was ful pump, no go, I heard they had problms with the fuse box and wiring harness, my mechanic messed with mine a few days ago and it has not did it since, but I am looking at changing that. GL

replace the fuel filter first, if that does not work, you have a bad fuel injector.

I would guess starter fuse first, then starter. When you turn key, if you don't hear a click, you should focus your attention on the fuse first and then the starter. If you hear a click, then most likely (80%) its the starter solenoid. try to start the car in neutral to rule out the neutral safety switch...good luck

did you use aftermarket crank sensor? if so that might be your problem. dealer has several different ones, by providing vin number, but there is only one after market for all optimas 01-05. try to connect thick pink wire and thick orange wire together on the ignition failure sensor. you might have the same problem as me. good luck.
