Why does my heater only blow hot air?

Only hot air blows out the heater , the switch itself will not adjust the temp to a cooler setting effectively and have replaced the electric switch at heat control panel .

If only blows hot from defrost location only, then there is a vaccum leak from intake manifold to the selector switch. or the vaccum selector switch is defective. if it is a electric selector switch then the mode door is broken, common issue. when the truck if first started, is there a repetive clicking noise? if so then it would be the mode door being broken, warrenting having to remove the dash and recovering of the air conditioning refridgerent, or freon, r-12, or r-134a as this year is R-134a, draining coolant as heatercore needs removed, and removing the entire heating and airconditioning unit, located behind dash on passanger side, disasembling and replacing door. if clicking noise is pressent and time and money, and certified air conditioning mechanic not available, then finding the mode door actuator, or electric motor that turns the door, and unplugging it will cause the noise to stop, but forever have no airconditioning, as default location is defrost. if able to select from defrost to panel or floor location but heat only, then blend door is broke. i believe mode and blend door are same part number, but might not.
also check for recalls and tsb's, or technical service bullitions, as might help fix it. recalls are free, and tsb's are only to help you diagnose the problem, and you would have to pay to have fixed or fix yourself, but having to evacuate and recharge air conditioning system and haveing to have the special tools to remove ac lines it may be a job best suited for a professional. 01 silverado. Not blowing hot air but yet temp gauge is at half way mark?

When the truck is at operating temperature, touch both heater hoses. More than likely one is much cooler than the other. If so then alter truck cools off remove both hoses at water pump and blow thru one until it flows freely. If both hoses are the same temp (pretty warm/hot) then the blend door actuator has gone bad. Be sure to purge cooling system if heater hoses are removed, an air pocket will cause weak heating and and engine temp. fluctuations.

1997 E350 Eldorado bus passenger heater blowing cold air

There is a separate heater core, like a small radiator, which needs hot water running through it, so when the air blows over it, the air gets hot. It sounds like the diverter valve which sends the hot water to this heater core is not working. It could be a problem with the valve itself, or the relay or switch that controls it, or the vacuum line or device that opens the valve when the switch or relay tells it to open.

2001 Silvarado 2500 Hd the temperature control switch does not control temp; it just blows very hot. The A/C does not seem to kick in with the switch tuned on to make the temperature even a little cooler....

If it seems to blow even hotter air when the A/C is on then yes you have a leaking A/C system. It will still activate because it isn't empty yet. Another possibility is the temp door actuator isn't closing to the cold position. When you turn the fan off or to low, adjust the temp from full hot to full cold (just with key in run position, not with engine running). Look up at the heater control box on the drivers side just above the gas pedal, and you should see a white triangular plastic box. You should hear the actuator move or even see the rod in center of box turning. If not the actuator is faulty.

1999 cadillac deville d'elegance heater problem

i've been down here too myself, and discovered that the temp control motor, located in the bottom of the glove box, which you can access by clearing all your stuff in in and opening a small door.
you can adjust it manually, and see if it changes, if yes, the switch can be defective, as well as the motor, the switch is the most likely problem.
but adjust it manually first.

Heater blows hot air in all control settings 98 Ranger

There is small cable that runs from the back of the temp control switch on the console that goes through the firewall and loops around a valve on the heater hose that is used to control the amount of hot coolant that goes into your heater coil. This cable hooks on the back of the temp control switch also. Bad news, that's probably where it came off and you'll have to pull the control unit out of the dash to get to it.

Passenger side blows hot air when front control set to Air

you cant adjust it ,this requires the dealers computer to re set it,or a phyiscal control has packed up like a vacumn pipe has split where it pushes onto the valve that controls the flap in the heater unit.

Ford ka heater blows hot air all the time

Taurus does not use a heater control valve. It runs coolant thru the heater core constantly. You may have a temp blend door actuator problem or a plugged up heater core is also very common. Feel the heater hoses, they should both be very hot, it one is much cooler; you can try to back flush the core.

No hot air .

the blend door motor could be bad or the door itself could be broken inside the heater box. big job to fix that, the entire dash has to come out.
