My actuator stopped working & the AC blows hot air on the passenger side -i found a reputable/reliable mechanic with a good track record as per the people whose car he repaired & he's willing to let me watch when he removes the dash & repairs the actuator-adding incentives goes along way-that's the best i can tell you, haynes & chilton are useless

SOURCE: ignition switch won't turn, locked

tumblers in the ignition switch and/or thew key itself is worn down and not pushing the tumblers into correct position. Only fix is to get a new switch assembley or try a fresh cut key.

How to change a fuel pump in a 1998 oldsmobile regency

JACK UP REAR OF CAR AND SUPPORT WITH JACK STANDS. STANDS SHOULD BE PLACED UNDER REAR DOORS AT FOLDED SHEET METAL, AKA ROCKER PANEL. MAKE SURE TO GIVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR REMOVAL OF TANK WITH FUEL TANK ON JACK. REMOVE THE HOSE CONNECTING TANK TO FILLER CAP TUBE. SIPHON OUT ALL THE FUEL YOU CAN. NEXT, SUPPORT TANK IN MIDDLE USING A PIECE OF PLYWOOD OR OTHER THIN MATERIAL TO DISTRIBUTE WEIGHT OVER A GREATER AREA OF TANK TO KEEP JACK FROM BENDING IT TOO BAD.RAISE JACK AND APPLY GENTLE PRESSURE ON TANK. 2 METAL STRAPS HOLD TANK IN PLACE. EACH HAS A NUT ON ONE END. RENOVE NUT, SLIGHTLY LOWER TANK WITH STRAPS BENT OUT OF WAY. NOW DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL PLUG FOR FUEL SENDING UNIT, USUALLY GREEN WITH A FEW WIRES.DISCONNECT ANY OTHER HOSES, PRESSURE HOSE AND RETURN HOSE AND VENT HOSE. PRESSURE HOSE AND RETURN HOSE MAY TAKE A SPECIAL TOOL. YOU CAN CHECK AHEAD OF TIME AT PART STORE. CAREFULLY LOWER TANK. WHERE LINES CAME FROM TANK THERE IS A ROUND FLANGE THAT HAS PLACES FOR A FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER TO PUSH AGAINST TO ROTATE. USUALLY 4 STICKING UP. YOU WILL ALSO SEE THE FLANGE HAS RAMP LIKE PLACES GOING UNDER TABS ON TANK, THESE ALLOW THE FLANGE TO SORT OF SCREW INTO TANK AND SQUISH SEAL TO KEEP GAS FROM LEAKING OUT. ROTATE FLANGE COUNTER CLOCKWISE BT HAMMERING ON SCREWDRIVER AGAINST ONE OF THE 4 TABS OF THE FLANGE, GO AS FAR AS YOU CAN AND MOVE TO THE NEXT TAB IF IT GETS DIFFICULT TO ROTATE.REMOVE WHOLE SENDING UNIT WITH SEAL. DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU WERE SOLD AT PARTS HOUSE CHANGE OUT PARTS AND SEAL AND REINSTALL, SOUNDS HARDER THAN IT IS . WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, IT'S ONLY 2 NUTS AND A COUPLE OF HOSES.

Where the thermostat is located on 98 olds regency V 6

follow the upper radiator hose back to the engine block. The thermostat housing in on the engine side of that hose. It may be hard to see because of all the other "things" in the way. It usually has 2 or 3 mounting bolts holding it to the engine block.

Broken belt tensioner. How to replace?

HI begin by disconnecting battery , remove alternator then remove the two heater hoses attach to tensioner bracket by removing the to front screws, you will lose coolant so put a pan on the bottom .Then remove bolts attached to tensioner bracket.it will require a little force to pull out yest make sure you got all the bolts out before applying force. Here is a picture tensioner and bracket assembly so you can see what bolts to remove. let me know how it turns out it is not so bad to do5e1c732.jpg

Tuneup

take spark plug wires off the plugs ONE AT A TIME. remove the plug and replace it, then follow the wire to the coil pack and replace it with a new one and do this for each one, how ever, when it comes to the back plugs, your going to have to do it from underneath...

Putting the car on ramps or jacking the entire front end up.
