The Aurora is a front wheel drive vehicle and there is absolutely no direct connection between the back bumper and the front transaxle. Take the car to a transmission shop for a free inspection. Hopefully all you need are new seals.

The transmission will not engage. the fluid and filter have been replaced, and the system was flushed. it worked for a couple of days, then it started again.

It sounds like your valve body may be sticking. If it is, this is usually caused by debris getting into the valve body and causing the pistons to stick in their bores. This can cause an internal hydraulic leak and the symptoms you are describing. Unfortunately, this usually results in a transmission overhaul because the debris that makes the valve body stick usually originates from clutches and other parts that are damaged or badly worn.

Leaking transmission fluid, most seen under left drivers side tire. What could this be? If its the front pump seal, do I need to have the whole transmisssion removed to reach it?? What is the transmission...

Well, you have to put the car up on a lift, clean fluid and find out where it is coming from. If the front pump area seal, yes, you need to pull the trans to fix that. If it is leaking from the pan, that can usually be changed without trans removal.

How do you add fluid to front differental on 2001 oldsmobile aurora?

The front differential is the transmission. This is checked when the engine is at normal operating temperature with the vehicle running in park.Remove the dip stick and add til it gets to the full hot mark. This takes Dextron 3 automatic trans.fluid.

2001 olds aurora, 3.5 ...0442 diag code..where is evap filter and lines located

I have fixed several of these P0442 codes on the Aurora and they were all leaking from the EVAP Solenoid. This is about a $20.00 part. It is located by the driver's side rear wheel on the inside of the frame. You need a 10mm socket to remove the bolt. You will have to disconnect 1 or 2 electrical connectors as well. The most difficult part is getting the EVAP line off - not too bad though.

2001 Oldsmobile Aurora "Check coolant light" comes on. I refill the coolant and then a few months later the same thing happens. What is the source of this slow leak?Any estimates of cost to repair?

try to get a bottle of transmission sealant first, or sometimes called stop leak. add that, see how it goes for a while. if happens again, then look at hoses and connections, if still happens maybe radiator or a puncture some where
