you have a bad cruise cable, this is a very common problem with the tribute. just go to your local dealer and have them replace it for you, it only takes about 30 minutes to do

SOURCE: P1131 manufacturer control fuel air metering. What

Hi Galant5Rov,

Firstly, congratulations to you on identifying the Trouble Code. This code relates to the Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02s)

The oxygen sensors supply the computer with a signal that indicates a rich or lean condition during engine operation (i.e. fuel/air metering).

This input information assists the computer in determining the proper air/fuel ratio. A low voltage signal from one or more sensors indicates too much oxygen in the exhaust (lean condition) and, conversely, a high voltage signal indicates too little oxygen in the exhaust (rich condition).

The oxygen sensors are threaded into the exhaust manifold and/or exhaust pipes on all vehicles.

A faulty oxygen sensor due to loose connections, bad grounds, high resistance in the circuit, or opens in the circuit can cause the following symptoms.
Related Symptoms

  • Surging at idle
  • Unstable idle
  • Running rough off idle
  • Hesitation
  • Stumble
  • Chuggle
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Spark knock
  • Stalling on acceleration
You must take EXTREME care when removing these sensors, as they can be difficult to remove (seize up). You may require a special tool to remove these without causing damage to the sensor.

Cheers,

My 1996 Honda Civic the. Cruise control won't work nothing will work on ot

The cruise control system on this vehicle uses mechanical, electrical and vacuum operated components to maintain vehicle speeds over 25 MPH. The cruise control unit receives command signals from the cruise control main switch and the set/resume switch. It also receives operating signals form the brake light switch, ignition coil, speed sensor, clutch switch (manual transmission) or shift position switch (automatic transmission). If the main switch's indicator light illuminates when turned on, it's likely working properly. Likewise, if the cruise control light on the instrument cluster illuminates when the set/resume switch is pressed, it is likely OK. At this point the problem would likely be mechanical or vacuum-related rather than electrical and the actuator/servo would be the prime suspect. On the other hand if the cluster indicator light is not illuminating, it could be an electrical issue such as the set switch not registering or one of the safety switches (brake switch, clutch switch or shift position switch) registering inappropriately which effectively cancels the cruise request. I have a 1998 mazda 626. I just had the brakes and roters replaced on the front end and now my cruise control will not even turn on. Is this problems related to the brakes or do you think it is something...

probably not. Once you find and correct the problem then you will know if it was related or not. Check the fuse and the brake switch, that's the most common things.

2001 mazda 626 rpm going up to 4 before going into 2nd gear

the transmission and filter need to be changed quickly, the oil is most likely burnt and/or the filter is covered with funk, once those are swapped then your ride should cruise just fine.

1997 Mazda Miata button with red light lower left Dash

That toggle switch is for the security system. That year miata never came with any switches for the soft top of any kind. Most likely that is an aftermarket alarm system. Most factory alarm systems do not come with a toggle switch.

Cruise control problem

The cruise control is terminated by the brake lamp circuit, Check the brake, tail lamp for water or a short. Your turn signals are on a different circuit. Check the bulb sockets closely for corrosion. Failing this check connectors for the tail lights for possible water penetration, or loose connections.

Hope this ia of some help
