Car stuck in 5th gear

Are you saying that the clutch is not working so that you cannot change gears while the car is running? With the engine stopped, and the car not moving, can you shift the transmission into the other gears? If this is so, then your problem would be a hydraulic or cable malfunction with the operation of the clutch system. If you have a hydraulic system, make sure that you have fluid in the clutch master cylinder and that it is working properly. If it is a cable system, make sure that it is working. c

Shift valve stuck in valve body or soliniod.

because of the close gear ratios and the synchronisation action ,it is possible to change gears without the clutch if the engine rpm's and road speed are close matched. If you put it in 5th gear and the engine rpm's increase without an increase in road speed (gear does not engage) then it is possible that the gear on the out put shaft is stripped. This is a common problem in vehicles where 5th gear is engaged and the vehicle load and speed is excessive inducing excessive wear on the teeth of the gear causing them to fail

Well-- sorry to say the trans has to come out & apart to fix that

If you have a hyd clutch and not cable..it may have went bad

Check for the vavle body stuck. ..

sounds like your duel mass fly wheel has given up common on these
cost a lot to do

Hi my name is mike ,if it only happens in 5th gear it is more than likely the syncro gear that is causing this the sycro gear is on all the gears and allows the gears to mesh together easily when you shift into gear ,usually it give people the problem when the car has alot of miles onit and its mostly when you try to shift into that gear it will be hard to go in or not go in all the way and then fall out of gear ,this one sounds like it may have rough spots on the syncro and it holds it on gear, it comes out of gear when you speed up and let off because when you speed up then let off it takes some of the pressure off the gear and then it will release ,hope this helps ,most likely you will have to put another transmission in .let me know if you have any Q's

have the oil checked if needs to replaced sounds if the level is low or that you may have to rebuild the tranmition or you can buy one at a scrap yard you may be lucky and get one from a accident car that may have less miles on
