SOURCE: install a new radiator "1999 Suzuki Vitara

Yes you need to remove the fan. I believe the fan is bolted by 10mm small bolts to the top of your radiator. Remove your transmission lines, drain the radiator, remove the hoses and overflow hose, unplug the fan, remove it, and you're left with the 2 brackets on the front crossmember on both sides of your hood latch. Remove the 2 brackets and your radiator should lift right out
Good luck!

SOURCE: SUZUKI VITARA 2.0 V6 PETROL ENGINE

I suggest either a "Haynes" or "Chilton" repair manual. They are both very informative concerning complete engine tear down.

SOURCE: timing chain was replaced on 99 model v6 suzuki

It may have stretched, but you would have known if it had stretched more than the tensioner could make adjustment for at the time the front cover was off. When you say "left bank", are you meaning the LH bank when you look into the engine bay (which is actually the RH bank), or do you mean the LH bank as in the LH side of the car? As it sounds like only the main chain was replaced initially, my thinking is that the 2 other chains and tensioners also have some wear. The RH tensioner is the only one you could possibly get an extra click out of the ratchet without pulling the entire front cover off again. You do have to remove the RH rocker cover, and with a fabricated "hook" pull the tensioner block upwards. Listen for a click (or clicks) and make sure there is no slack on the top of the chain between the sprockets. This tensioner can be starved of presurised oil if the engine is sludgy, and doing the above doesn't solve the blockage but will quieten that particular problem. Anything else will require the timing cover to come off again.

Need to know timing chain installation on 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Go to Auto Zone and get a repare manual to see how it is installed. Chances are, if that timing chain broke, the crank could've kept spinning, making the pistons hit the valves then bending them. This would happen if your engine is an interfearance-motor, an interfearance-motor is were the valves are really close to the pistons, this is done so the motor gets more horse-power. The timing chain keeps the cam and the crank shaft in time with eachother so the pistons don't hit the valves. Alot of compact cars and import cars and trucks of the 90s and up have these kind of motors in them. Therefore, you may have to get a valve job done by taking the heads off and bringing them in to some kind of repair shop.
