Most factory radios can be repaired, but parts and labor typically runs far more than having an aftermarket stereo installed to replace the original. In many cases, the sound quality is superior from aftermarket replacements as well.

SOURCE: My 1995 bmw 318i won't eject a tape and the tape

Just a thought. try pushing the eject button holding it down & with a small pair of pliers carefully lift the tape & pull it out. Tape player heads could be dirty, eject button sticking or faulty or the player is done its time. Good luck

SOURCE: the radio will not play

Have you got the code for the radio? If So, disconect it and leave it off for 30mins, re-connect it to the power supply and insert your code, this should reset the radio, failing that has anybody been playing with it, ie children, putting items in there that should not be there? Coins for example.

SOURCE: I have a 2004 VW Jetta. The radio ejected the tape

Open the hood. Lift the battery cover, then there is a little black box on top of the battery. Open it. bet it is burnt and melted. Do NOT take it to the dealership. You'll pay $600 . You need an alternator cable and a new fuse block. 30min fix.

I cant listen to the radio but cd will play. I know the radio works but only for a few minutes.

When you put the tape in and play your songs, then take it out or eject the tape, push in the radio mode, you should the radio , if not check to make sure you got a good antenna connection, sometimes there maybe a delay but hopefully not two minutes, should be more like 5-10 second delay

Turn the radio off first and then disconnect the battery for 2 min then reconnect the battery. This should reset your radio and then you can eject your CD, and reset your stations and clock. Good luck

Tape stuck in player - error code e13 shows

I just got a tape unstuck myself. Everytime I would hit eject it would make a clicking noise.

Here is what I did:
First I watched these videos to remove the radio.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29MTa4FLjtk&feature=channel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqvk_PNo9Kg&feature=channel

Then I unscrewed the bottom panel of the radio.
Unscrew the brass screws holding in the cassette player portion of the radio.
Now flip the cassette player over to see your tape, etc.
When I pressed the eject button, I noticed a little motor with a worm gear would move a a gear which moved several other gears until it eventually moved a black gear which has a little post that moves the metal arm which moves back when pushing in a tape and moves forward when ejecting a tape. But I would get a clicking sound which seemed to be due to one gear trying to move a stuck gear.
I forgot the exact details of how I managed to get the tape out, but when I did get it out I noticed when I turned on the radio, it would act like it was trying to play a tape. But when it found out it couldn't, it would try to eject but would fail once again with the gear clicking sound.
I think I tried moving the black post on the black gear that moves the arm that pushes the tape out. Eventually I got to the point where the arm was pushed forward like it should be when a tape is ejected. At that point I was able to insert and eject a tape without any problems.
