If i remember right, the two fuel pipes go in to the bottom of the tank and are released from the underside above the differential, not easy to get to. by using two different size release tools one for the flow one for the return.they are self sealing, so you should not loose any fuel, if you use the correct release tools, tie a piece of wire or string to them, because if you drop them you may not find them again easily. good luck.

Hello
If you spray starting fluid into the air intake of the engine does it start? If it does you do not have fuel injector pulse and no fuel delivery to the engine or the injectors are ruined from dried fuel deposits. Do you have any fault codes in the ECM memory? Checking for codes is very important, this is an electronically controlled engine.

SOURCE: how do you change the inlet fuel line to the gas tank

There is no inlet fuel line, unless you're talking about a fuel line return from the pressure regulator? Or are you talking about the big hose between the fill cap and the tank?
If you're talking about a bad fuel line,is it plastic or steel? don-ohio

SOURCE: Removing my tank on a 1994 XJ6 with in tank type pump, my Haynes tells me you have to remove the two fuel lines from under the car but i dont have axle stands, is there an other way to get at them?

Well my 94' came loose as per the book. The book takes apart a earlier model car so procedures are different, sometimes. Try using spare tires from your Jag and your wife's then something else very safe.I had a 60' T-Bird lite on my hand in 1990 and belive me...it hurts. Just use sturdy things that won't move if the car does slip. Don't EVER rely on the jack EVER! Let the weight down on the wheels. Just thinkin....Go buy some jacks.

Two different procedures may be used to drain fuel tank: through the fuel fill fitting on tank, or using a diagnostic scan tool. (YOU DO NOT HAVE TOOL)
The quickest draining procedure involves removing the rubber fuel fill hose (3) from fuel tank fitting (7).

1. Release fuel system pressure.(PRESSURE IZED LINES GOING FRONT)
2. Raise vehicle.
3. Thoroughly clean area around fuel fill fitting (7) and rubber fuel fill hose (3) at rear of fuel tank (8).
4. Loosen clamp (9) at tank fitting (7) and disconnect rubber fuel fill hose at fuel tank fitting. Using an approved gas
holding tank, drain fuel tank through this fitting.
Loosen clamp (9) and disconnect rubber fill hose (3) at tank fitting (7).
2. At rear of tank, disconnect fuel pump module electrical jumper connector (5) from body connector (6).
3. At rear of tank, disconnect EVAP lines (2) and (3) from lines (1) and (4).

Evap system

The FSM is clear on this. each hose and fitting must be air tight.
or the the car vents gas fumes full time, and the EVAP ECU tests
(monitor) make sure this all works.
you can just look at the left and right side above rear tires. and see
if your hands are small enough to fit here. Id bet not.
some mech, report, the tank can be tilted down at front (drained fuel)
and gain access.
keep in mind, you get fuel siphoning at any time. do not open the system, with fuel in the tank, and then drive to autozone,
i loosen the gas cap so that pressure can not build in tank.
expanding fuel can push fuel out , during a filter change. very
dangerous in a garage, and you gone.
it's just a vent hose, you can see, it and what needs to be done is really obvious. given you arms sides and lenght.
my fsm states, " TANK pull"

Removal & Installation

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel filler cap from the fuel tank.
  3. Have a Class B fire extinguisher near the work area. Use a hand operated pump device to drain as much fuel through the fuel filler neck as possible.
  4. Use a siphon to remove the remainder of the fuel in the tank by connecting the siphon to the fuel pump outlet fitting.
CAUTION Never drain or store fuel in an open container because there is the possibility of a fire or an explosion.
  5. Reinstall the fuel filler cap.
  6. Remove the rear seat cushion from vehicle (if so equipped).
  7. Disconnect the fuel pump motor connector and sending unit electrical connectors.
  8. Disconnect the wire harness grommet and harness through the vehicle floor pan.
  9. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  10. Remove the fuel filler hose clamp from the filler neck assembly.
  11. Remove the fuel breather hose clamp from the filler neck assembly.
  12. Remove the fuel filter inlet hose clamp and hose from the filter.
NOTE A small amount of fuel may be released after the fuel hose is disconnected. In order to reduce the chance of personal injury, cover the fitting to be disconnected with a shop towel.
  13. Remove the fuel vapor clamp and hose, and fuel return hose clamps and hose from the respective fuel lines.
  14. Using a suitable transaxle jack, support the fuel tank.
  15. Remove the fuel tank retaining bolts and lower the tank.
To install:
  1. Reconnect all fuel hoses, lines and the fuel breather hose to the fuel tank.
  2. Place the fuel tank in its proper space using the transaxle jack, Install the fuel tank retaining bolts.
  3. Remove the transaxle jack.

Replace fuel pump

Best to do this in a well vented area because of the fire hazard, so that the gas fumes don't accumulate.
1) Disconnect battery negative cable.2) Jack up car and support on safety Jack stands3) Siphon gas out of tank4) Remove three rubber hoses on rear of tank. These are used for gas fill up; remove hose clamps and disconnect.5) Remove three hoses from front of tank; these hoses go from the fuel pump to the engine. You'll need special fuel line wrenches for this.6) Disconnect two connectors at the front of the tank.7) Remove two bolts that hold the exhaust pipe heat shield. You'll want to use penetrating oil on these; they will be corroded.8) Support tank with a floor jack. Remove the bolts which hold the tank in place. Pivot the tank on the exhaust, tilt and slide out.9) The gas hoses are taped to the tank. Remove the hoses. The fuel pump plate has about 12 screws around it. Remove the screws. Lift the plate out. The fuel pump is retained with one screw. Remove the screw. Filter is retained with a clip; remove it.10) Get your new fuel pump ($250), the rubber gasket for the fuel pump plate, and new filter ($5). Compare the pump with the old one; it must be the exact lenght. I had to go to two different auto parts stores before I got the right one.Installation is opposite of above. Good luck!Fuel pump is not too tough. First, get a Haynes or Chilton manual for reference (about $14).Best to do this outdoors, so that the gas fumes don't accumate. Where is the fuel filter located on a 1994 dodge ram

Fuel Filter REMOVAL & INSTALLATION CAUTION
Never smoke when working around gasoline! Avoid all sources of sparks or ignition. Gasoline vapors are EXTREMELY volatile! All 1989–93 Gasoline Engines and 1994–96 2.5L Engines The fuel filter is located in the fuel line on the inside of the left frame rail, just ahead of the crossmember. Fig. 1: Fuel filter location for gasoline engines 88471011.gif
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure as described in Section 5.
  2. Unfasten the filter retaining screw and remove the filter from the frame rail.
  3. Wrap a shop towel around the hose connections to catch fuel spillage. Loosen the fuel hose clamps and disconnect the hoses from the filter.
  4. Remove the old fuel filter and replace it with a new one.
  5. Connect the fuel hoses and tighten the hose clamps. Position the filter on the frame rail and tighten the retaining screw to 75 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
1994–96 Gasoline Engines — Except 2.5L The fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pressure regulator which is mounted in the fuel tank. This unit is not controlled by the PCM or engine vacuum. It is calibrated to deliver approximately 35–45 psi (241–310 kPa) of fuel pressure to the injectors. If the pressure exceeds the maximum of the specified range, an internal diaphragm closes to route fuel back into the fuel tank. This system eliminates the need for conventional return lines from the engine bay and accounts for the name of the "Returnless'' fuel injection system employed in these vehicles. NOTE: Fuel tank removal is required for this procedure. Also needed will be external snapring pliers and proper hose clamp pliers, such as No. C-4124 pliers (available through Plymouth/Dodge dealers), or equivalent.
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure as described in Section 5. Fig. 2: With the fuel tank removed, twist and pull the fuel filter/regulator for removal from the rubber mounting grommet 88471707.gif

  2. Drain the fuel tank and remove the tank.
  3. Remove the fuel filter/regulator (which is pressed into a rubber grommet) by twisting and pulling it straight up. Fig. 3: Use snapring pliers to remove the retainer securing the cover tube to the base of the filter/regulator 88471708.gif

  4. Remove the snapring retaining the cover tube, then slide it down to reveal the clear plastic fuel tube and its retaining clamp. Fig. 4: Cut off the old tube clamp without damaging the plastic fuel tube 88471709.gif

  5. Gently cut off the old clamp without damaging the tube, then discard the clamp.
  6. Carefully pull the tube off, then remove the filter/regulator from the fuel pump module. To install:
  7. Install a new clamp over the plastic fuel tube and attach it loosely to the filter/regulator. Rotate the unit in the line until it is pointed to the driver's side of the vehicle.
  8. Tighten the clamp using hose clamp pliers such as No. C-4124 (available through the Plymouth/Dodge dealer). NOTE: Do not use conventional side cutters to tighten the clamp.
  9. Slide the cover tube up to the bottom of the filter/regulator and install the snapring.
  10. Carefully press the assembly back into the rubber grommet by hand. It should be pointed to the driver's side of the vehicle.
  11. Install the fuel tank.

Gas line is leaking very close to tank. The leak is at the joint where the metal pipe coming from tank meets a rubber hose that runs to filter. It seems to be leaking right at this joint which seems to...

You want to be very careful not to make any sparks while working on this. The obvious is smoking, banging metal tools around, etc. keep cell phones AWAY from the area. Pick up some rubber fuel line from the parts store. Be prepared for some gas leakage, have a plastic pan under the leak. Disconnect the line at the tank, have a piece of new hose ready to push on over the line to as close to the tank as you can, have the end away from the tank plugged up temporarily with a pencil or something that fits snug in it, then remove the rubber hose on the filter, and connect new line from tank to filter, check for leaks, hopefully it is the rubber line you replaced, or the end of the metal line, so the new hose will hopefully cover the corroded leaking area. Clamp and Dry off area and see if you can spot any leaks.

How to rmove fuel from fuel tank of 2000 chevy express van?

Some fuel tanks have a drain **** that will allow you to drain all of the gas neatly. If you have a drain ****, it will be located at the lowest point on the tank. Loosen the valve and allow the gas to completely drain.
If your tank has no drain ****, you'll have to drain it by removing one of the fuel lines. The rubber hose that exits the tank at its lowest point will drain the tank fully. It will either be connected to an electric fuel pump, fuel filter, or to a hard fuel line that goes to the front of the car. Loosen the clamp on the end of the line that connects to the gas tank. Pull the hose off and allow the gas to run out of the tank into your container until it is drained completely.
