This is not an interference engine so no the valves won`t hit the pistons and bend.

SOURCE: Timing Chain and Valves

I think it's an interference engine but you can check quite easily at this point if the valves are bent. Pull all the spark plugs out, turn the crank so that all the pistons are 1/2 way down their bore, get a piece of fuel line that is just the right size to thread into the plug holes or a special fitting for this purpose, and blow into each cylinder after you have turned the cams in succession so that the valves should be closed at the hole you are blowing into. If a valve is bent, you won't have any trouble blowing into the cylinder. If it's good, you won't be able to blow very well at all.

SOURCE: 03 kia rio-24000 km.will valves hit piston if belt breaks?

yep valves will hit piston if timing belt brake.timing belt keep your valves and piston timed.when intake valves and exhaust valve open.piston is on down stroke.the timing belt keep pistons and valves from colliding.your timing belt change is due at 60000 miles.but in some cases belt need to be inspect at 30000 miles.to be on the safe side.

SOURCE: Are the V6 engines Free spinning?

Hi Lukegerny,
No,the V6 engine is not free spinning. If the timing chain breaks, leaving the valves open as the piston moves through its travel, there will be damage to the valves. How much damage will depend on speed of engine and length of time it ran. You can perform a leak down test to check the condition of the pistons and valves. It will tell you if the valves are not sealing, without having to take it apart. Thanks,Chuck.

SOURCE: 2000 chevy S10 timing chain or belt? if broken

if its a 2.2ltr its a timeing chain and the r known for failing they have a cheap plastic slide that wears out prematurely causing the chain to jump or sometimes break. ive fixed a lot of them so i dont think its an interferince fit engine if its v6 4.3ltr u hardly ever have a problem with the timeing chain. its usually the gear at the bottom of the distributer wears out

My 1999 Chevy Tahoe has gas in oil and it is a throttle body 5.7.

Incorrect Crankshaft position and valve timing.

It has an interference engine, so the piston came up and hit the valves and jammed with piston. You now have bent valves.

Is my 1999 Tahoe 5.7 L an interference engine or not?

Does the 1999 chevrolet cavalier have a timing belt or a timing chain and if it breaks do the valves hit the pistons.

The 99 cavalier 2.2 and 2.4 both use a timing chain and yes, if the chain breaks it can damage valves. If the engine still cranks over you can remove the upper coil module cover, remove a spark plug, roll the engine over and see if compression builds. If the engine does not crank over, the broken chain will prevent the engine from turning.

If the chain broke while the engine was running, and I presume it did, it is possible that you may have damaged the valves. When the chain breaks the cam shaft stops moving and the valves stay in their last position. The pistons continue to move until the engine comes to a stop. An open valve can be hit by a piston, sometimes breaking the valve or just bending the shaft. Also you have to be sure the new chain has the cam shaft and crank shaft properly timed. As I understand that that engine does not have timing marks on the chain sprockets. To test for damaged valves, remove the spark plugs and test the compression in each cylinder by cranking the engine while holding the compression gage in the spark plug hole. All the cylinder should have the same pressure within about 15 psi. A cylinder with damaged valves will not have any compression pressure. If you are unsure about the valve timing check into how that engine is timed. I don't have that information but if is out of time it has a very major effect on the engine performance and idle. I hope this gives you a place to start looking for the cause of the mis. Good luck.

I was driving and my car lost all power and won't restart I've been told the engine is seized solid and the timing chain is broke and that's why it wont work but the wheel's didn't lock...

I assume your S class is an automatic gearbox ,hence the roll to a stop when engine seize/cam chain break.the symptoms of a camchain break would be the valves will hit the pistons causing major damage to valves, pistons, cylinder head, conrods, bores and possibly crank. Its possible that the engine seized first causing the chain to break, either way it would be a seriously expensive/terminal engine problem.
