Could be a number of things. The best way to find out is testing different things. First thing would be to change fuel filter, plugs, wires, check spark, It may be a faulty regulator, camshaft sensor, or other sensor. It may be plugged PCV valve or leak vacuum line.

I have the same model and year Coupe, and have problems starting it sometimes. I'm not sure it's the same problem you're having, as you say nothing happens when you turn the ignition key. On mine the engine turns over but doesn't start. It usually happens if I've been driving, stopped and then tried to drive off again. In my case it's the ignition lead - to get it going I have to pop the bonnet/hood, pull apart the plugs that connect the two halves of the ignition lead together, then reconnect them. I'm guessing the plugs are just slightly loose and/or the contacts need cleaning (haven't gotten around to sorting it properly yet). Loose plugs would explain why it's okay until after I've been driving; presumably the plugs get shaken loose during the drive.
Might not be the same problem on yours but it might give you somewhere to start. Hope it's of some help!
there are screws in the black plastic trim around the clocks, remove these and pull the trim forward. then remove the screws securing the actual clocks into the dash, then pull the clocks gently forward. on the rear are 2 plugs and the speedo connection, these will need disconnecting to completely remove the clocks. once removed on the rear of the clocks are the bulbs , easily removed by twisting the holders anti clockwise.
I f you have ecu fitted,Itry disconnect positive lead on battery.Turn on ignition to get rid of any stored power .Pump brake pedal for about 20 secs(you will hear clicking in engine) when stops reconnect battery lead and try then
i would tend to think it was electrical possibly the coil they overheat sometimes and will kill the firing feel the coil and the resistor under the coil to see if they are more than just warm if they are that could be the problem
