My jeep grand cherokee 94 mOdel will turn over but

have you check fuel pressure and timing marks of crank at TDC #1 and location of rotor pointing when on cyl #1, does it point to were #1 is on the distributer cap.

i think you pretty much answered your own question there. Use the '94 distributor in the other engine and make sure that all the sensors are in place, connected and all for a 94. Also check the crank position sensor. If left in place during install, they can get damaged if the flywheel hits it. (hope you matched the flywheels too...if different, it will not run.

5.2L and 5.9L Engine firing order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor rotation: Clockwise

first thing you need to check your sensor on top of your transmission make sure is connected to get signal to activate the fire

Possibilities can include:

Clogged catalytic converter - needs replacement or removal.

engine timing off - adjust the camshaft position sensor.

distributor cap & rotor - replace along with new spark plugs and wires

check the cam sensor and crank sensor, also is the distributor turning,possible distributor gear pin broke

You might have a small leak in your vacuum system, check all of the hoses and plugged vacuum connections. Check your plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor. Sometimes a crack in the distributor cap will cause carbon to build up. Since carbon is an electrical conductor it might be jumping from one cylinder to another that is not in line with the firing order.

Put new distributor cap and rotor at least

Check the starter, selinoid, and then the ignition switch if the motor will not turn over. If it turns over without fire check the ignition coil and then the distributor.
