REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2.
Remove the four screws located inside the storage bin.
3.
Remove the two screws located under the cup holder lining.
4.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5.
Remove the center console from the vehicle.
yes once a air bag is deployed most cars will not start. brakes will never cause a car to not start and the same with thew transmission. there is a air bag control module and it is located under the center consel
Check your brake lights. There is a switch on the brake pedal that actuates a release solenoid for the shifter. If this switch is bad, it won't shift out of gear and most likely the brake lights won't work. Replacing this switch should fix your problem.
