Hi Jerri, The links below are two short youtube videos that shows how to fix a car that doesn't start, The 1st link is a car that won't crank over and the 2nd link is a car that cranks over but won't start...CHEERS.. Fixing Car That Does Nothing When You Turn The Key
if it doesn't crank over test the starter jump the small wire on the starter to battery voltage if it cranks there the problem is the car side if it still doesn't crank the starter is bad
All the battery does is supply power to the starter to crank the engine over.
The alternator doesn't start working until after the engine is started. It supplies electrical power to the engine after it has started and also recharges the battery.
If the engine is cranking over but not starting it is neither the alternator or the battery.
Check for spark and fuel pressure your most likely missing one of these.
Try giving it a shot of starting fluid. You don't say if it's actually firing. If it tries or runs for a few seconds off of the starting fluid then try changing the fuel pump relay. It's inside of the glove box on the left hand side behind the little door. If that doesn't work it's most likely the fuel pump.
Honestly, that sounds bad-loud knocking that gets worse, then no start-does it sound normal when it cranks? Does it crank freely? Is your battery in good condition? More information is needed...
IF the car cranks over but doesn't start you need to see if you have Spark and Fuel. IF it doesn't crank, check starter and related circuit, tapping on starter will sometimes help to get it rotating. Check all fuses, and make sure battery terminals are clean and tight. Have someone or yourself connect a scanner DTC reader and see if you have any engine computer faults. If manual transmission make sure your clutch pedal switch is not missing the bushing. Aftermarket alarms can cause no starts also, but usually a "no-crank" situation.
does it crank?? if not possible starter malfunction.
if it does crank but doesn`t start then it is ignition problem and you will have to tow vehicle to repair shop.
