The port is down low at about the centerline of the car between the radiator fan and the motor. It is hidden from view from above by hoses and cables. Most likely will have to access it from underneath the car.The port is down low at about the centerline of the car between the radiator fan and the motor. the green cap is for measuring gas tank pressure.AC fittings are red for high side, blue for low. Some chryslers have two grey caps right at the compressor
Locate your AC compressor. The low pressure service port is located on the back of the compressor where the high and low side connections bolt to the compressor. Look on this line about 4 inches or so back on the line.
FOLLOW AC COMPRESSOR SUCTION SIDE FROM THE ACCUMULATOR CANISTER TO THE SMALL EVAPORATOR LINE GOING INTO FIREWALL LOOK FOR LINE WITH A BLUE PLASTIC CAP.THATS YOUR LOW PRESSURE CHARGE PORT.
The low side port should have a blue cap covering the valve. Even if you tried to connect a low port hose to the high port, it will not fit because it is a different design. it should be located between the compressor and the evaporator.
YOU NEED A R-134 GAUGE SET TO CHECK LOW PRESSURE SIDE AND HIGH PRESSURE SIDE.YOU ALSO CAN BUY A LITTLE CHEAPER GAUGE TO CHECK YOUR AC LOW BLUE SIDE AND HIGH RED SIDE AT ANY AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS.WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU GET YOUR GAUGE SET HOOK GAUGE TO LOW PRESSURE SIDE BLUE CAP PORT AND GAUGE TO HIGH SIDE PRESSURE RED CAP PORT.YOU CRANK CAR UP GET IT OPERATING TEMPERATURE.THEN TURN AC ON HIGH COOL LET RUN 3 TO 4 MINUTES.CHECK LOW SIDE GAUGE READING SHOULD BE 28 - 32 PSI. HIGH PRESSURE SIDE GAUGE SHOULD 199 - 228 PSI. THATS NORMAL CHARGE. SEE YOU CANT JUST RECHARGE AC SYSTEM UNTIL YOU CHECK IT FIRST YOU WILL DAMAGE SYSTEM .NOW YOU CAN GO TO AUTO ZONE PARTS BUY A CHARGE CAN WITH GAUGE AND HOSE.ATTACH TO IT.YOU NEED MORE THAN ONE CAN.WARNING MAKE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING WHEN YOU TURN ON AC .BECAUSE IF COMPRESSOR NOT RUNNING CHECK FUSE AND AC COMPRESSOR RELAY.IF BOTH OKAY.YOU COULD HAVE OPEN CLUTCH COIL A FAULTY LOW PRESSURE SWITCH WILL CAUSE AC NOT TO WORK. IF LOW PRESSURE GAUGE BLUE SIDE PRESSURE IS 28 OR 30 YOU DONT NEED A CHARGE.PROBLEM SOME WHERE ELSE.BE SURE TO WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN WORKING ON AC SYSTEM.
There should be a yellow and a red cap. One is for low and one is for high pressure. You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual.
Did you check the acumulator? There is a port on it, that is the low side port. Keep in mind that if you have to recharge the system it is because other parts need service (leak in the syst) and whatever refrigerant you put in it will leak out again. The system may work temporarily or may work inefficiently. Also may sure that there is oil in syst.
Newer vehicle come with R134 vs R12. Since the two are not compatible, R134 has larger fittings. AC system has two ports, High and Low. Low is return to AC Compressor and high is output. High port is first following line from compressor to condenser (condenser is at front of vehicle like a second radiator). Keep following line till you find high port (paint cap red). Second port is low (paint cap blue).
there are 2 ports one for low pressure and one for high pressure. the low pressure is bigger in diameter and is usually close to the dryer and or fender and firewall. the high pressure is near the condensor on the fron of the vehicle. if there are caps for the ports low will be blue and high will be red. low side pressure should be 35-50 psi and high pressure should be 135-150 psi
