Where is the shift selenoid located and how hard is it to change
SOURCE: where is the shift solenoid located on a 1999 ford f-150
The shift solenoids for your transmission are located inside the transmission you will need to drop the pan on the trany and they will be right there for you to access. Good luck.

They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.

Note that the comment (from another online forum) that dcramer531
pasted into his comment, describes a 2002 Ford Focus's transmission, not the
1995 Ford Taurus transmission. I
don't know the model designation for the Focus's transmission, but it isn't the
model used in the Taurus. Some
1995 Tauruses have the AX4S transmission, which has no solenoids accessible in
the transmission pan area; other 1995 Tauruses have the AX4N transmission, which
succeeded the AX4S. The AX4N has
only two solenoids accessible in the transmission pan area. The rest of the AX4N's shift solenoids are in
the valve body (covered by the transmission's side cover), which is much more
work to get to than just removing the transmission pan.
