Car drives and shifts OK then out of the blue bogs down and has no power exhaust manifold glows orange. After cooling the car runs and drives fine. Cat converter replaced and flow tested car drives fine then the problem reoccurs after a few miles. Engine codes p1361 and p0740 read simultaniously. Erase the codes then they both return at the same time when the car bogs down with no power. The car goes from running great to almost no power instantly. Timing belt also replaced. HELP PLEASE HELP

What kind of car? What do the codes mean? O2 sensors? It sounds like the engine is running lean but I need more details please.

What year did you say this is? With those codes, I would think your car is much newer than 1992. Those look like OBDII codes.

Disconect trany solenoids if you can test it at lower speedsi,,distribuitor may go crazy ,like high voltage going to wrong wires so change that if it is easy enough, fuel pressure regulator may play a roll or coolant temp sensor under the distributor also

Installed new TD04 turbo and vehicle ran perfect for a week or so. Last night drove 10 mins it is revving to fast and when i looked at exhaust manifold it was glowing red.

I would check your MAP or MAF sensor to be sure. Sounds like you are running lean which is causing your exhaust gas temperature (EGT) to be very high. Running lean with a turbocharged car will destroy your engine very quickly. Drive the car gently until you figure this out.
P0109 OBD II Trouble Code

Also, it is common for the exhaust manifold and downpipe to glow orange if the car has been driven in a spirited manner. Although, normal (not lead foot) driving shouldn't cause your EGTs to be this high.

Car starts fine and runs fine for a while then the motor bogs down and dies. It then will not restart until it cools down. What could be the issue

Hi Michelle, I'm glad to help!

Michelle, there are a lot of things that can cause this problem, here are the 2 most common problems. (1) Exhaust restriction, sometimes when vehicles get a lot of miles on them the exhaust fails and inside the exhaust falls apart. SO, when you drive the car the debris piles up in the pipe and restricts the air flow and back pressure causes the engine to bog down and have no power and in most cases causes the engine to die. The muffler shop can check this out for you. (2) Inadequate "FUEL PRESSURE" when a vehicle has a lot of miles sometimes the fuel pump can gradually go bad. When you drive the car the "FUEL PUMP" is working so hard to keep up that it just eventually stops working and dies. Michelle, there are a lot of other things that can cause this but these are the 2 issues that are found the most and is a very good place to start. Someone of course will need to check this to see if either one is the problem. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Michelle.

Had exhaust manifold replaced since then my 2001 caravan bucks and blows black smoke little to no power

if you replaced the manifold because it was cracked the look for a plugged cat convertor..the cracked manifold was probably letting the exhaust escape..now it builds too much back pressure

2001 pt,abs &trac lite come on car hesitates sometimes dies,in a garage & they cant find the problem

I have a 01 pt that did the same thing. By you're exhaust manifold there is a thick wire set with loom over it. Pull it back and check the orange wire. It controls the crankshaft Senor mine was burnt through. Easy fix black tape and a price of wire, spliced it together and was good to go. But I relocated the wire off my exhaust

Radiator cooling fans

i would assume more than likely that your exhaust is clogged some where more than likely the catalytic converter is clogged unbolt the exhaust pipes from the manifolds and let the car run for awhile (it will be extremely loud don't drive it this way u get pulled over) if manifolds dont glow replace catalytic converters and inspect rest of pipes for clogs
if manifolds still glow you more than likely are running way to rich check fuel pressure injectors etc.

Glowing manifolds

to much fuel into the exhaust manifold your converter could be causing a restriction have you lost power is your check engine lite on is this an older car with a smog pump sometimes with a smog pump it will push the unused fuel thru the manifold an burn off causing the manifolds to glow

2002 s10 zr2 runs rough bogs down when you

First check for any cracked pipes leading into the intake manifold If all OK (with no codes showing it probably is OK) try checking the fuel pressure regulator. If you smell fuel from the pressure regulator vacuum side arm (when the vacuum line has been disconnected) it needs to be replaced.

Check the EGR valve. If this valve stays open all the time like it sounds like it is you will have all these problems you are talking about, also with the glowing of the intake would make even more since

1988 ford mustang gt bogs down when pushing pedal down

Hard to say if it is related to exhaust or ignition timing if you take the car for a long drive and take a look at your exhaust manifold and if it is glowing cherry it could be related to your exhaust or timing a freind of mine had the same thing happen and the cataliytic was plugged and the timing was out. the cat was probly plugged due to the timing being out.I would also check the timing. It could also be an injector problem, fuel filter,or some other area of the fuel system these problems are hard to diagnose without actual hand on so just check those areas and let me know of any other symptoms hope this helps?
