Dome light won't come on when door opens
I believe the switch is located inside each door. If no dome light when any door is opened, check the fuse; location shown in the owner's manual. Also, check the override switch (pushbutton) located below and to the left of the headlight switch - this cancels dome light operation by all doors.
There are at least 3; 1 is using the dash light switch-turn all the way up;2 that show 4 lights on it-push it and it will turn them off-push it again and it will turn them on; three push on one end or the other end of the actual light.

THERE IS A INTERGRAL MICROSWITCH INSTALLED IN THE LF DOOR LATCH- DOOR SIDE. THIS PART IS NOT SOLD SEPARATLY, THE SWITCH WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. MAKE SURE THERE IS A POWER & GROUND AT THE SWITCH 1ST. IF NOT THEN THERE IS A PLOBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE SWITCH..
SOURCE: dome light does not come
Likely failure is either in the dome light bypass button next to the headlight switch on the dash, or failure of the plunger switch located in the door jam. If the dome light is not comming on when any of the doors are openned (passenger, side or rear doors) then I would start with the bypass switch on the dash. Can be checked fairly easily with a multimeter -- after you've managed to remove it from the dash.
Good Luck

sounds like there might be 2 feeds coming to where you disconnected the switch, I would co to the reckers & get another one from a similar car. Most of them complete the circuit when they close the switch/door open when the door closes then switch it left hanging open.

There is a fuse box under the back seat on the left hand side. The fuses you need to ck are fuse#4 tbc3 fuse and fuse# 40 tbc 4 fuse. The dome lights operate through the bcm.

This is a short on the dome lamp assembly. It is possible that the ground wire from the dome to switches is short.
remove assembly and check.

The liftgate lamps

Courtesy/map lights
The courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the body control module (BCM) supplies battery positive voltage to the dome lamp, the liftgate lamps, and the map lamps. When any door is opened, the door jamb switch contacts close providing a door open input to the BCM. The BCM then provides a ground to the interior lamps with the switch in the AUTO position. The interior lamps receive a ground at G401 with the switch in the ON position.
Important: If the liftgate is opened after all the modules go to sleep, the dome light will not come on. The liftgate ajar switch input to the BCM will not wake up the BCM once it has gone to sleep, so the dome light will not come on. Once the BCM gets an input to wake it up, from remote keyless entry (RKE) or a door handle, the dome light will turn on when the liftgate is opened.
If the driver inadvertently leaves any interior lamp ON, the BCM will turn it OFF after a 20 minute time-out.
The courtesy lamps will turn OFF immediately if the ignition switch is turned to the ON position or approximately 20 seconds after all doors are closed.
The courtesy lamps are controlled by the body control module (BCM). Inputs from the dome lamp switch and the door ajar switches are monitored by the BCM. When a door ajar switch is closed, or the dome lamp switch is turned to the ON position, the BCM supplies the B+ for the courtesy lamps.
With out a factory Tech2 scan tool or equivalent an knowing how these systems work ,you best bet is to take your vehicle to the dealer or some other ASE certified repair shop !
