Firstly ( assuming you have replaced the brake pads) you MUST replace the wear sensor with a new one. Lower drivers window, With door closed, lean thro open window and put ignition on without starting, leave for 15 minutes minimum, switch off, then start car. If this fails and you are unable to cancel warning via I drive button, then an appropriate scan tool will be required.
Hi , to reset the service light you will need to insert the key and turn the ignition lights on but do not start the engine. you will see a push button on the lower left side of the instrument panel press and hold this until you have a triangle appear which then turns to the brake warning symbol , release the push button then press and hold the bc button in the indicator arm until reset appears , release and again press and hold the bc button until you have a moving clock symbol appear , release the bc button and wait for the display to change , once this has reset turn off the ignition and the service symbol should have reset .
you may want to print these instructions before resetting , regards Mark.
What it sounds like to me is that they didn't replace the "brake sensors" when they did the job. They are a seperate part and if whomever changed your brakes didn't charge you, I think like $20, for the part, then that's the problem.
for the light with the 3 bars on each side, its the warning for the brake pads. one of the axles needs new pads. when replacing brake pads, be sure to replace the brake sensor wire too.
do you have a tool to reset the oil indicator? i don't believe it can be reset without one. your BMW dealer can reset it or check www.bavauto.com to see if they carry one.
I dunno if this will work on your BMW, but on my BMW Z3 and M3, it was....
Turn the ignition key to position 2, but do NOT start the car. Wait for
about 45 seconds and the brake warning message will be reset.
If it doesn't reset, then the brake sensor was damage. You will need to replace the brake sensor. It sounds like you replace the brake right after you saw the warning, so the brake sensor should be okay.
press the satrt button with foor off the brake until lights turn on,close the doors and press and hold the trip button on the inst cluster, abs will come up and then go,than you will see all the diff cbs requirements on left side press button until the brakes come up and press and hold again, it should reset to ???tkm
