SOURCE: my kia sportage 2001 has a warning light that in

You may have a faulty O2 sensor. Many auto parts stores will read your cars computer error codes for free, as a courtesy, with a hand-held scanner if you ask them. This would be your first step in determining the cause for the "Check Engine" light.
If it is an O2 sensor, sensor 1(upstream sensor) can be accessed from under the hood on the drivers side, just after the exhaust manifold, and before the catalytic converter. Sensor 2(downstream sensor) is after the converter, and can be seen from this location, it can be accessed from under the car. I highly recommend purchasing the socket made for sensor removal.(About $10.00) Spray with a bolt loosen-er, and make sure to let the car cool down completely before attempting removal!
The sensors are a little over $100.00 each at a parts store, but if you look around the internet you can find them for less than half that price.

SOURCE: my 1999 kia sportage glx se is misfiring but still

Check your fuses the one for check engine light might be bad. Every time I had a misfire with my Kia the check engine like came on. You may also take it to an Auto Zone or a store that checks the computer of your vehicle for free. If it is a misfire there are a few remedies I know of

First if you haven't changed your spark plugs in the past few years you should look at replacing them.

Second older vehicles the gas tends to get sediment in it because you are not using all of the gas in your tank even if you run it out. I found that out because it would drive fine until I filled the tank up which in turn churned up the sediment from the bottom went through my gas line and caused a misfire. The easiest way to fix that is maybe a gas treatment which may break down the sediment. The harder and more expensive is drain the tank change the pump and the fuel filter. You don't need to drain the tank entirely to change both but it defeats the purpose of change both and still having sediment in the tank.

Third in order get the computer checked, change spark plugs, have leads checked, then use fuel treatment. Just so you know when you use fuel treatment it will run a little rough at the beginning because the sediment is being broken down give it a week or so to let it run its course.

good luck

Warning light --Upside down horseshoe with exclamation point

It should be letting you know that you have a tire pressure problem. If you still have the owners manual read it. It will explain what to do, what to look for and how to reset the light if need be.

I have i 95 kia sportage and the automatic hubs won't lock the 4 x4 light turns on and in 4 lo the gearing changes but only turns the rear wheels i just bought the car and didn't know the 4x4 didn't work...

Remove the automatic locking hubs from the vehicle. You will probably notice on one hub or the other the alloy tabs that extend from the inner part of the lockout hub are sheared off, they will probably be found loose in the hub or near the bearing. The manufacturer Warn makes a good replacement automatic hub for the Kia Sportage; Warn part # 61918 for the automatic hub or if you prefer the manual hub Warn part # 60247. The hubs come with excellent instructions to remove the existing hub parts as well as the installation of the new hubs. This seems to be a common failure with the Kia Sportage and almost certainly is your problem.

Had front brakes changed on my 2005 kia sportage now the ads brake ligh and the regular brake light won't go off

Depending on how much brake work was done, either the wheel sensors have been damaged or were not properly reconnected. The regular brake warning light may be on because the ABS is disabled at the moment. Fixing the ABS problem may extinguish the standard warning light too. I suspect the brakes are working but not as an ABS-equipped system.
If you have one of the auto parts chain stores near you, take it to them for a free scan of yoru computer; the error code it finds may be more specific that the ABS warning light.
