Smoke from my engine/ 2001 Hyundai Accent

I have smoke coming from my engine of a 2001 Hyundai Accent. The check engine light is not on, the oil looks good. I don't know what it could be. Any suggestions?

My 2001 hyundai accent uses a lot of oil though there are no sign of leaks or smoke.

what do you consider a "lot" of oil? some use of oil is normal. 1 to 2 quarts between oil changes is normal for an older vehicle.

I have got a Hyundai Accent 2000 model , i have replaced the engine with a new sleeve , Pistons, Bearings and rings .I have already run 600 Kms .There is no engine misfire or trouble in running. But i...

Well, you have to be quite specific with the color of your smoke. White smoke indicates water vapor and Blue smoke indicates oil. If the mnornings are chilly, you can almost always expect to see water vapor smoke. Another thing is how much smoke is it? You can try an engine oil additive such as Restore or change the type of oil you use in your engine. It's hard to say without a lil more detail, but if you replaced all that and it runs smooth and quiet, then I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it. Without being remanufactured, a 2000 engine aint gonna run like new in 2011 no matter what you do to it. Hope this helps.

My accent smoking like any thing on sudden accelaration

good clean quality oil may free up your oil rings, don't hammer down on it. smoke on accel means piston oil rings are sealing or wiping oil properly.

2001 Hyundai Accent 167,000 miles

At 167,000 miles there will be wear on the piston bores and rings this means you will be burning off oil even during normal running

Standing test is to make sure that the car is in park and get someone to really rev the engine for a few seconds let it die down and do it again repeat this 6 or so times and I bet you will see a thin blue smoke coming from the muffler

Hyundai accent engine oil consumption

Hi ..... With this milage I'd expect at the same time the following would have been done, valve seals changed, valve guides checked/replaced, bores honed and valves reground into the cylinder head. Not to have done any of these is false economy and bad engineering practice.
The symptoms you state, esp'ly on topping up, point towards valve seals or guides.
Take the plugs out and examine, they should all be a light tan. Carryout a compression test across the bores and come back with the results.

Oil consumption, no smoke, no leaks

Oil consumption can be when the piston rings worn out, also valve gaides worn out.
means engine oil passes through the combustion chamber, you cant see smoke sometimes.but when condition of the piston ring is wost you can see smoke behind the exhaust.

Hi I have a 2001 hyundai accent, the car it drinking alot of engine oil and there is no leak or excess exhaust fumes - this yellow check engine light is also always on. What would this indicate?

Take it to a shop that can read the codes from the computer. It's called an OBD scan. As for the oil problem there is only 2 ways it can be leaving the engine. 1 is that it's being burned which is will have blueish smoke coming from the exhaust. 2 is a leak. I always try to park on some clean cardboard and that makes it easy to see the drops. If it doesn't leak while just sitting there have it run for 15mins while on the cardboard. Oh and 3 someones letting it out. Do you have any enemies?
