This sounds like a bad activating circuit. The ignition switch is suppose to send juice to the Alternator. Also the plastic plug connectors holding the small wires into the Alternator can ride up and miss the metal tabs they are suppose to fit on. Mechanics often pull the metal connectors out of the plastic connector, then slide the metal connectors onto the Regulator tabs inside the Alternator opening. The Mechanics slide the plastic connector housing over the already attached metal connectors and call it a day.

i had this exact same problem ... under the hood onthe left side of the firewall where your starter solenoid and fuseable links are there is a little container type thing that holds a 20 amp fuse that fuse is probably blown the little container is on the firewall right below the fuseable links

If you replaced the alternator and you have checked all fushes and wires. you most likly recieved bad alt. I would take it off and have it tested.

check the fuses in the POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX under the hood, There is a 75A in-line fuse and #11 - 15A fuse see if they are good.... test your alt. loom for opens, and cables .....hope this helps...GL
